With each passing day, Twitter is witnessing the craziest of trends. While many use the platform to address serious issues, some internet users start random trends that do not make much sense. Today (June 21), Twitter is swamped with comments and posts about a 16-year-old boy, thanks to its latest trend #TommyIsOverParty.

Who is Tommy and why is he being canceled? Thomas Simons, known online as TommyInnit, is an English Minecraft YouTuber, who is popular for Twitch live streams and Hypixel Skyblock videos. He started streaming on Twitch in late 2018, where he streamed PUBG, Fortnite and Hypixel public parties. Tommy started his YouTube channel called ChannelNutpig when he was only 12, deleted it after a year, and then started his current channel TommyInnit in 2014.

Today, his channel has over 2,45,000 subscribers and consists of more than 223 videos. He also owns other channels such as tomaye, TommyVODS and TommyOutit. His channels have been graced by several prominent gamers including Tubbo, Badlinu and TimeDeo. Tommy has been involved in a couple of controversies such as Lobby Spamming in 2018, a Fake Vape incident in 2019 and the latest in April 2020 for breaking YouTube Rank policy by sharing a video titled ‘I installed 13 Minecraft hacked clients and did this’.

Today, Tommy started trending on Twitter with #TommyIsOverParty out of the blue, leaving his fans baffled. However, a few who were aware of the origin of the trend assured that Tommy had nothing wrong and the trend was only started as a joke by his fellow gamer Dream, who goes by ‘DreamWasTaken’ on Twitch. “Tommy is a twitch streamer that goes by tommyinnit. he's a minecraft streamer with over 200k subs on youtube. he was doing a stream with a bigger youtuber, dream, who has over 3 mil subs on youtube. dream told tommy's twitch chat to get the hashtag on trending, and here we are,” explained one fan.

“From what ive heard Tommy was streaming with Dream and Dream said to make this trend. Its all a joke, so dont worry. (wondering why its still trending after 4 hours tho)” added another.

Meanwhile, several users have noted that Tommy is still a young boy who doesn't deserve to be hated over what he said years ago. One of his fans wrote, "#tommyisoverparty in all seriousness, please don’t actually make fun of tommy or hate on tommy. This hastag was a joke. If you say anything rude or offensive about him then f**k off."
