Tom Cruise takes 11-hour flight to avoid quarantine in UK, plans to build 'Covid-free' village for new film
Tom Cruise took an 11-hour flight to the UK in order to beat the new 14-day quarantine rules so that he can resume filming 'Mission: Impossible 7'. The actor managed to touch down in the UK on Sunday (June 7) night, just before the filming was due to restart. A new directive from the UK revealed that anyone visiting from abroad would have to go through a 14-day quarantine period in isolation given the coronavirus outbreak.
Cruise had landed at the Biggin Hill airport located outside of London on Sunday, a day before the quarantine measures were made mandatory, The Sun reports. A source shared, "It’s no accident Tom arrived on Sunday night — they didn’t want their leading man locked away on his own for 14 days. There have already been so many delays to the film and everyone is keen to get it up and running at the first possible second — so slipping in before the quarantine rules came in on Monday made sense," the insider added.
"Hopefully it will mean the film can get back on track and finished without any more delays," the source continued. Upon reaching, Cruise, who took an 11-hour flight from Clearwater, Florida, went straight to a "stunning rented pad" and will reportedly be using a helicopter to travel to and from the set during breaks, as per the report.
The filming of 'Mission: Impossible 7' took a hit when its Venice film set was shut down by the Italian government amid the coronavirus crisis. It is believed that last week, the producer Cruise and some of his fellow movie bosses will be building an entire village to make sure that the cast and crew are totally safe while shooting. They are reportedly planning to take over an abandoned RAF site in Oxfordshire to build the short-term film location which will have VIP Winnebago trailers for the A-list cast which includes the likes of Simon Pegg and Rebecca Ferguson.
A source shared, "If Tom has to stay in Britain a bit longer, that won’t bother him at all. He knows it well and has plenty of friends here. His priority at the moment is getting this film made." The film 'Mission: Impossible 7' had been scheduled to be released on July 23 in 2021 but has now been postponed to November 19, 2021, given the coronavirus pandemic that has gripped the whole world in its claws.
As per a Mirror report, an insider spoke about the plan to build a village and said, "The film has already been heavily delayed and there’s no sign of things going totally back to normal any time soon, so this is a way to try to get things up and moving again quickly and safely.
"It’s also tough to get hotel rooms at the moment as most of them are shut for the foreseeable future, so it was this or delay things for even longer," the source added. "It will mean some of the world’s biggest stars all living together in a posh campsite while working alongside the rest of the team." "It’s pricey but Tom always does things bigger and better than anyone, and there’s a hell of a lot riding on this film."
