'Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan' Season 2 preview: John Krasinski's Ryan is a changed man and he's back to saving the world

Expect nothing short of a gripping thriller coupled with some explosive action this time around. With season 3 already announced, it remains to be seen if the new installment's plot will continue on to the third season

John Krasinski's Jack Ryan is a changed man. He was a man who still had nightmares from his marine days. He wasn't a man who would fire at will and shed blood. The reluctance was out there for the world to see. Ryan was never a black-ops- shoot- to- kill guy. He wasn't exactly a G.I.Joe or a hardened member of the A-Team. All he was, was a  financial analyst monitoring illegal transactions for T-Fad, the Terror, Finance, and Arms Division of the CIA.  Guess, that is a thing of the past.

The Jack Ryan in the upcoming installment looks like a man who's ready to kill. The season 2 preview reveals some mind-numbing action that we haven't witnessed in season 1 and unsurprisingly, has Ryan smack in the middle of it. The rest of the footage sees him tackle baddies, do a HALO jump off a plane and do a parkour-style action sequence where we see him leap off buildings. A far cry from the man who was reluctant to kill in the opening season.

This a good thing though. The pilot season took its time in establishing its characters and Ryan's persona is fleshed out in detail. His boss at T-FAD, Jim Greer (Wendell Pierce) was a pivotal character and the duo will most definitely share some screenspace this season. It's interesting to see what's in store for Abbie Cornish's Cathy Mueller, Ryan's love interest as well.  The second installment has also roped in new characters. Noomi Rapace and Michael Kelly are slated to play crucial roles.

The official synopsis of season 2 reads: "After tracking a potentially suspicious shipment of illegal arms in the Venezuelan jungle, CIA Officer Jack Ryan heads down to South America to investigate.  As Jack’s investigation threatens to uncover a far-reaching conspiracy, the President of Venezuela launches a counter-attack that hits home for Jack, leading him and his fellow operatives on a global mission spanning the United States, U.K., Russia, and Venezuela to unravel the President’s nefarious plot and bring stability to a country on the brink of chaos."

Expect nothing short of a gripping thriller coupled with some explosive action this time around. With season 3 already announced, it remains to be seen if the new installment's plot will continue on to the third season. 'Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan' is co-produced by Amazon Studios, Paramount Television, and Skydance Television.

Jack will be back on November 1, 2019.
