Episode 7 of 'Snowpiercer' Season 3 saw Mr Wilford hint at the possibility of Melanie Cavill still being alive. Beginning with Alex and Ben informing Layton about this possibility, 'Setting Itself Right,' Episode 8 of Season 3, shows the train enter hazardous territories as it's rerouted to pursue a trail that supports Wilford's theory.

Following the trail of a small autonomous vehicle, the Snowpiercer enters an area filled with toxic gas. However, the train maintains course after being assured by Mr Wilford. Unfortunately, Javi and Sykes soon find out that the gas has entered the train due to a breach in one of the cars, with Sykes collapsing while attempting to fix the situation.

Layton and Asha arrive at the scene to fix the breach as Ben walks them through the process. They figure out that the entry point to the area with the openings is too small and that one of them is going to have to step out of their protective suits to fit in. Asha strikes Layton, essentially incapacitating him, as she exits the suit to fix the breach. She dies after inhaling the toxic gas but not before making Layton promise to lead the train to New Eden. Elsewhere, we see Till and Miss Audrey grow close to each other, while Zarah visits Mr Wilford as she suspects his motives behind looking into Melanie's whereabouts. We also get to see Mrs Headwood collect LJ's skin samples though it's unclear what she's working on.

Episode 8 of 'Snowpiercer' Season 3 ends with the train crossing the gas-filled region unscathed due to Asha's sacrifice, as Ben and Alex intercept a signal transmitted from Melanie's vehicle.

Directed by Leslie Hope on a teleplay by Marisha Mukherjee, 'Setting Itself Right' brings Asha's journey in the series and on the train to an end. The character that was mysterious for most parts contributed to the narrative in her own way and has been written off in a manner that highlights her true nature. Her death, amplified significantly by Daveed Diggs' counters and Iddo Goldberg's reactions, also confirms Ruth's claims that everyone eventually finds their place on the Snowpiercer.

'Snowpiercer' airs Mondays at 9 pm ET on TNT.
