Does Tim Scott have a girlfriend? GOP senator could not keep abstinence pledge he boasted of at 30
Senator Tim Scott delivered a scathing response to President Joe Biden's first address to a joint session of Congress, saying “Washington schemes” and “socialist dreams” won’t help America get back from its pandemic doldrums. However, fans are now wondering whether the South Carolina Republican is married or dating, especially after it emerged that he had broken an abstinence pledge and wasn't a virgin anymore.
MEAWW can confirm that Scott is not married and does not have children. Born in 1965, the Republican firebrand is a member of the Seacoast Church of Charleston, per his Senate bio.

Scott grew up in a single-parent household where his mother was forced to work long hours in order to pay the bills, according to Heavy. During his freshman year of high school, the future senator failed four classes and made it through only because of help from his mother and a personal mentor. Scott, who has served as a senator for South Carolina since 2013, was first appointed by Governor Nikki Haley. The following year, he won a special election, and in 2016, he secured his first full term as senator. He had served in the House of Representatives from 2011 to 2013 before Haley picked him for the Senate seat.
In a conversation with Politico in 2018, Scott said he had no intentions of starting a new family until he had accomplished enough to take care of his mother, who had been by his side through thick and thin. He told the outlet that he was thinking about settling down in his early 40s and that he had a girlfriend he was getting serious with at the time. However, once a 1st District seat was up for grabs, he decided that marriage and Congress wouldn't go together.
Scott revealed that he had always wanted to have six children of his own, and hoped that his future wife would want children someday. “I think at the right time, I will meet Mrs Right, and she’ll want to have a couple of kids. Or she ain’t Mrs Right. Right?” he told Politico.
The South Carolina politician was quite open about being a virgin when he was 30, saying it was part of his evangelical Christian faith. Sixteen years later, at the age of 46, Scott admitted that he wasn't a virgin anymore, but maintained that abstinence was the better path before marriage. Scott was asked whether he was still holding to the abstinence pledge he had talked about when he was 30. “Yeah… Not as well as I did then," he responded. "The Bible’s right. You’re better off to wait. I just wish we all had more patience.”
In 2012, Scott was instructed by the House Ethics Committee to reimburse a conservative think tank for the costs of bringing his friend, Zee Patel, with him for a three-day trip to the Cloister Beach Club in Georgia, according to the Daily Mail. He was invited by the American Enterprise Institute and his aunt was originally supposed to accompany him. However, when she couldn't go, he invited Patel, who was the general manager for a lingerie store in Charleston called Bits of Lace, per the outlet.
According to the newspaper, Scott said Patel was just a close friend who stayed in a suite with him and his mother. Nonetheless, he had to pay back the cost of her stay because the organization had only allocated funds to pay for members of Congress and their families, not friends.
In February 2013, a "source close to Tim Scott" told FITS News that he and Patel were no longer dating. However, Scott has never confirmed that he and Patel were more than friends at any point.
When Scott made The Hill's 50 Most Beautiful List in 2013, he admitted he had a girlfriend but wouldn't name her. “She’s great. We’ll see how it works out,” he said, but when asked what her name was, he simply replied by saying he was “smarter than that.”
Having said that, Scott hasn't confirmed in later interviews whether he and the alleged girlfriend from 2013 are still together, or if he's dating anyone currently.
