The internet is a strange place and no one is spared. Apart from being trolled and attacked for controversial opinions that might not be politically correct, many are subject to scrutiny on their appearances, specifically their weight and body. It's now become a habit to fat-shame others and there has been much campaign and discussion over this. Recently, celebrities have been vocal about calling out fat-shaming and are also lashing out at those who perpetuate such ideas. Recently, TikTok star Charli D'Amelio took to social media and requested her fans to put an end to this evil.

She wrote on Twitter, "The amount of body shaming I see on the internet is absurd there is no such thing as a 'perfect' body so why do you shame those who you see as 'to skinny' or 'to big'? This could lead to unhealthy eating habits and emotional trauma, please understand your words can hurt!"

While many of her fans praised her for speaking up, others came out with their own stories of childhood trauma and the amount of bullying that they are still put through. One commented on her post, recalling how she was called an 'anorexic' giraffe. "I was bullied since I was little, because I am very skinny and tall, they called me 'anorexic giraffe' and it hurt so much that I tried to take my life, now I have a lot of insecurities, I know what it feels like, I hope it doesn't happen to anyone," one wrote.

Another recalled how they had to take steroids and that made them eat more than necessary. "I hate when people do this to me because I had an asthma attack not long ago and I had to have a lot of steroids which made me eat a lot I am trying my hardest to get rid of the fat that I have gained, and Charli your are so inspirational to me and helps me to get up every day. X."

One wrote about how they had shared a TikTok dance video and got body shamed for it. "I posted some tiktok dances with my friend and i got bodyshammed for how i looked..and i have a slow metabolism so it hard for me...why do people expect people to look how they want... i have a bad past life and its very hard to keep it the same life."
