Plot
According to the official synopsis, "In this poignant multi-generational drama, Pin-Jui (Hong-Chi Lee) is a free-spirited yet impoverished young Taiwanese factory worker, who makes the difficult decision to leave his homeland and the woman he loves behind in order to seek better opportunities in America."
"But years of monotonous work and an arranged marriage devoid of love or compassion leave an older Pin-Jui (Tzi Ma) a shadow of his former self. Unable to sympathize with his daughter Angela (Christine Ko) and at risk of living out his retirement in solitude, Pin-Jui must reconnect with his past in order to finally build the life he once dreamed of having."

Tzi Ma as older Pin-Jui
The actor plays the role of Pin-Jui, who reflects on a life lived without love and companionship. Now in the twilight of his life, he wishes to reconnect with his daughter. Tzi Ma is known for his performances in 'The Man in the High Castle', '24', 'Rush Hour' and 'Arrival'.
Christine Ko as Angela
Ko plays the role of Angela, who has never been able to connect with her father. The actress is known for her role as Emma on 'The Great Indoors'.
Joan Chen, Yo-Hsing Fang, Kuei-Mei Yang, Kunjue Li, and Fiona Fu form the supporting cast.

'Tigertail' is written and directed by Emmy winner Alan Yang.
Yang is best known for writing and producing NBC's 'Parks and Recreation', for which he received his first Emmy nomination. He co-created 'Master of None' with Aziz Ansari, which was awarded a Peabody Award and at the 68th Emmy Awards in 2016, Yang and Ansari won for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for Master of None'.

Spanning continents and decades, from 1950s Taiwan to present-day New York City, 'Tigertail' is a story of a man reflecting on the lost love of his youth and his long-ago journey from Taiwan to America as he begins to reconnect with his estranged daughter.
In the trailer for the Netflix movie, a Taiwanese factory worker Pin-Jui (played by different actors through the course of the movie), leaves his homeland to seek opportunity in America. There, he struggles to find a connection while balancing family and newfound responsibilities.
