'TMZ Investigates: Tiger King': Did Carole Baskin hire Joe Exotic's handyman Allen Glover to kill ex-husband?
'Tiger King' seems to have drawn attention over everything else other than the fact that the tigers are in danger. From scandalous murders to obnoxious animal abuse, the series has brought a set of cult leaders to the door of fame.
After the roaring success of the docuseries, a new episode hosted by comedian Joel McHale was ordered by Netflix and now, TMZ has unleashed a new hour-long investigative special, titled 'TMZ Investigates: Tiger King — What Really Went Down?'
One of the most pressing issues in the special is: Did Jeff Lowe kill Carole Baskin's ex-husband or was it a plot that involved one too many people? There are many theories floating on social media as to how Jeff Lowe is Carole Baskin's first husband and she hired him to frame Joe Exotic and even how Carole killed Don Lewis and fed him to the tigers. A Florida sheriff seems to think that "more than one person" was involved in the suspicious death.
Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister says he's suspicious of Carole Baskin but there could be many other people involved. "I’m extremely suspicious but not just of her, of this whole circle here," he told TMZ, adding, "I don’t want to allude to the fact or insinuate that she’s our person of interest we’re focusing on. I’m not comfortable saying that yet."
He also added, "There’s normally not one person that commits a homicide, it’s always a couple people. This had to be extremely planned out, this had to be well thought out. There’s someone else involved in this. There’s someone who was paid to do it, there’s someone who helped do it."
Joe Exotic's handyman Allen Glover was interviewed in the special and he made it clear he wants to hurt Joe to avenge all the misery he caused to the wild animals and the people around him. What's more, the fact that Joe gave Glover $3k, apparently "to kill Joe's nemesis, Carole Baskin," only makes the suspicion stronger that he was involved in something bigger. Being the only person Joe actually gave money to, Glover's involvement seems fishy.
Baskin got married to Lewis in 1991 but she accused him of being involved in multiple affairs. He vanished in August 1997 and there is no trace of his body ever since. Later, Carole married Howard Baskin in November 2004.
After watching the TMZ special, fans are convinced that Carole murdered him. "Carole Baskin killed-her husband, WACKED-HIM," one wrote and another said, "After watching this TMZ #tigerking special I'm 99.9% sure Carole Baskin killed her husband or had something to do it with it."
"Tiger King Conspiracy: Jeff Lowe is Carole Baskin’s ex-husband. She contacted Allen Glover to help kill Don Lewis. #TigerKing #CaroleKilledHerHusband #JoeExotic," one posted a theory and another said, "Has anyone thought of the possibility that #carolebaskins husband disappeared at the hands of the #TigerKing."
One viewer straight away asked, "So when is Carole Baskin going to jail??" While there are hundreds of theories in the minds of fans, there seem to be no answers. Only time will tell if this mystery is solved.
