MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE:  Tyre Nichols, a 29-year-old FedEx driver was brutally assaulted by six Memphis police officers. Nichols was allegedly brutally arrested on January 7 and he died in the hospital three days later. The video of the arrest was published by the Memphis Police Department on January 27.

Nichols' murder is being investigated, and the five officers have been charged in connection to the case. The ex-police officers are being charged with second-degree murder, as well as official oppression, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, and official misconduct. Soon after the arrest video of Nichols was out, another video hit the internet in which the accused officers are being seen mercilessly bashing Nichols.

Police reports

On January 29, Thaddeus Matthews, a Memphis talk-show host better known as The Cussing Pastor uploaded a photograph of the arrest report to Facebook. According to The New York Times, the contents of the report were validated by the local district attorney, Steven Mulroy. The photograph appears to have been retrieved from the Shelby County Sheriff's Office.

A police report that documents the deadly beating of Tyre Nichols includes a description of the arrest that is remarkably dissimilar to what can be seen on camera footage of the incident. Nichols was described as "irate" in the report that was filed by an officer hours after the arrest of the 29-year-old. According to the report, the man continually battled officers and reached for a police officer's gun.

On the other hand, there is no such indication in the video of Nichols' arrest that he attempted to attack the Memphis police officers or tried grab a pistol. Instead, videos that were made public on Friday show the aspiring photographer asking for mercy and calling out for his mother while being repeatedly punched, kicked, and pepper-sprayed by the group of Memphis police officers.

The camera Footage

According to the camera footage that hit the Internet Nichols did not attempt to fight or get hold of a gun when he was arrested by former Memphis police officers. The Internet went on a rampage when the video surfaced. Sharing the video online a Twitter user wrote "Justice for Tyre Nichols’ #JusticeforTyreNichols #JusticeForTyre"

Another user wrote, "See it's not about racism it's about AUTHORITY IVE VEEN SAYING IT THE ENTIRE TIME." Whilst, a second user noted, "4 officers and they still find the need to use brutal force to detain a man not fighting back." Someone further added, "Thugs in police uniforms! They deserve the same treatment n hopefully get in prison! Prayers to Nichols family and know you are loved and supported in the murder of your son Tyre Nichols"

Commenting on the misleading report given by the authorities a user wrote, "This is what happens when you ditch standard police hiring in favor of liberal CRT 'equity' hiring policies. FAIL. And it cost a life."  Moreover, a tweet read, "Wow. Full of lies to protect the cops." Meanwhile, a user stated, "Why did they do this to him? Was their a personal issue with one of the officers?"

Another Twitter user wrote, "When are they going to start charging police chiefs n command with criminal charges for failing to train their officers properly forcing the chief to go up against charges for failing to supervise n train officers properly! They are held to the same standards! @FoxNews @TGowdySC"
