NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Three people — two men and two women — were killed in a fiery crash close to Brooklyn's Belt Parkway early on Sunday, May 7, when their car skidded off the road and struck a tree.

Police said that they responded to a 911 report regarding a crash near Shore Road and Second Avenue around 7.45 am, according to New York Post. Firefighters put out the fire that started in the burning car. Authorities stated that three people — two women and a man — were declared deceased at the scene. The three adults were trapped when the car caught fire. A fourth passenger was transported by emergency care personnel to NYU Langone Hospital, where his status is reported to be stable. Police declined to disclose the victims' names or speculate about the cause due to the ongoing investigation.

'That's really sad'

Daniel Rodriguez said, "That's sad. That's really sad. Three families going through the worse thing you can explain," according to PIX11. Investigators are trying to figure out what caused the car to veer off the road and crash into a tree close to the Belt Parkway.

Similar incident

A car accident similar to this one claimed the lives of six young girls on March 26. The girls and two adults were reportedly driving down Interstate 24 West in Tennessee when the five-seat red Toyota Camry abruptly ran off the road and collided with a shoulder barrier near Exit 24 in Robertson County.

The adult woman was airlifted to a hospital in serious condition, and an adult man was taken to another hospital with minor injuries while the girls were pronounced dead at the scene. The names of the victims were not released, but according to Brent Dyer, director of the county's EMS office, their ages range from one to eighteen.

Numerous accounts have suggested that a black pickup truck about a half-mile away from the fatal crash may have been involved. But officials stated that the truck ran over a concrete barrier on the shoulder of a bridge. Robertson County Emergency Medical Services said, "Our office recognizes the incredible difficulty of this scene. Please keep the families and persons involved in your thoughts and prayers," as reported by MEAWW.
