3 Louisiana brothers raped 10-year-old girl who locked herself in bathroom after men offered money for sex
KENNER, LOUISIANA: Three brothers in Louisiana are charged with raping a 10-year-old girl after they broke into a bathroom that the victim had locked herself in after being offered money for sex, police said.
The Kenner Police Department said that two of the suspects - Raul Paz-Perez and Wilmer Paz-Perez, both 35 - were arrested on Saturday and were charged with first-degree-rape of a victim under the age of 13. They are being held without bond at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna. The third brother, 31-year-old Elder Paz-Perez, was still being sought by the police as of Tuesday, September 15, on the same charge at his two siblings. “We don’t know where he is,” Lt. Michael Cunningham told New York Post. “He may be out of state.”
In the days leading up to the alleged attack, Elder, who is the boyfriend of the 10-year-old's mother, was staying with the girl and her family, including her 15-year-old sister and two stepsiblings. However, at the time of the assault, the three brothers were alone with the 10-year-old girl at a home in Kenner. they made sexual advances toward her, offering her money for sex acts, Cunningham said. To reportedly escape from the clutches of her attackers, the little girl locked herself in the bathroom. But one of the brothers managed to force himself into the bathroom.
“After defeating the lock, the three entered the room, undressed the victim, held her down and sexually assaulted her,” Kenner police said in a statement. The victim came forward with the details of the attack after days of the incident when she opened up to a relative, who in turn, reported it to the police. Raul and Wilmer Paz-Perez were arrested later that day, police said.
The detectives are currently trying to determine if the victim's sister or any of her stepsisters were victimized by any of the three suspects. The 15-year-old sister of the 10-year-old girl had “made a disclosure” to investigators about an incident a few years earlier involving Elder Paz-Perez sexually assaulting her.
Raul and Wilmer Paz-Perez were found to be originally from Honduras and were in the US illegally. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainers have been placed on both of them. It was unclear if similar restrictions had been placed on the immigration status for Elder Paz-Perez.
We previously reported that At least nine teenagers were arrested in a gang-rape case after a 16-year-old girl claimed that she was sexually assaulted by dozens of men last month. The incident took place in Israel and authorities have so far arrested eleven people in connection with the case. Out of the suspects two 27-year-old men, believed to be the main suspects, were arrested last week, while nine minors, all believed to be 17, were arrested over the weekend.
The survivor claimed that she was attacked on August 12 in a room at the Red Sea Hotel after she went there for drinks with her friends. According to witnesses, the teen was assaulted by up to 30 men at the hotel. Police, in a recent statement, said that the girl's account is credible as the evidence supports her claims. A CCTV footage of the hotel allegedly showed men queuing down a corridor leading to the room where the alleged assault occurred. Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also commented on the heinous crime last week and condemned the attack, calling it a "crime against humanity."
