'Thor: Love and Thunder' mid-credits explained: Say hello to 'Ted Lasso' star Brett Goldstein's Hercules
Contains spoilers from 'Thor: Love and Thunder'
The leaks are true after all. 'Thor: Love and Thunder' confirms the introduction of Brett Goldstein's Hercules in the mid-credits scene. There were rumors of the 'Ted Lasso' star making his maiden MCU appearance at the start of the pandemic, but the delayed entrance finally gets the spotlight.
Born to the Greek god Zeus and human Alcmena, Hercules was created for one purpose — to be the greatest champion and his existence went well beyond 1,000 years. Going by comic history, Hercules had some epic scrimmages with Thor before fighting alongside the Avengers. In addition, there have been storylines where he was a member of the Defenders and also helped in the formation of the West Coast-based heroes.

'Thor: Love and Thunder' mid-credits scene explained
After Thor (Chris Hemsworth) puts Zeus's (Russell Crowe) Thunderbolt right through his heart, the mighty god of Lighting tasks his son Hercules to take on Thor so that mortals across the universe would finally fear gods as they should. "They beg you for mercy without ever knowing if you're listening," he tells Hercules. "Now, they look to the sky - they don't ask us for lightning, they don't ask us for rain. They just want to see one of their so-called superheroes. When did we become the joke? No...no, they will fear us again when Thor Odinson falls from the sky. Do you understand me, Hercules? Do you understand me, my son?"
The credit scene surely confirms that a Thor 5 will indeed happen. The movie works as the perfect platform to introduce Hercules, and give him the comic storyline of squaring off against Thor and hopefully being an ally. The storyline for a fifth film is pretty sorted with the mighty champion set to play a key role in the MCU. Goldstein's arrival now makes him the latest hero to be introduced in the MCU after Charlize Theron's Clea in 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness'.
'Thor: Love and Thunder' releases July 8 in the US.
