Contains spoilers for 'Thor: Love and Thunder'

Like the mid-credits scene, the leaked post-credits scene of 'Thor: Love and Thunder' proved to be true with Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) reaching Valhalla and greeted by the late Heimdall (Idris Elba). Her version of Thor dies in the movie leading the MCU to finally introduce Valhalla in the film.

The movie in a way sticks to that storyline where Thor's fate of losing the ones he loves continues. After Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Heimdall's deaths in 'Avengers: Infinity War', the God of Thunder now loses his love after being reunited with her. A leaked description of the ending suggests that she dies in her attempt to kill Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), and it's a bittersweet ending as her death also brings back Gorr's daughter Love (India Hemsworth).

'Thor: Love and Thunder' post-credits scene explained

The movie ends with Gorr and Foster dying in front of the Eternity. The former asks for his wish — to see his daughter return to life after Foster promises that she will be taken care of. This also brings her role to a close and a full circle in the MCU. Foster was pivotal in the first two installments, and was even seen in a cameo in 'Avengers: Endgame'. 'Thor: Love and Thunder' gives her the perfect farewell by seeing her spend her afterlife in Valhalla, a fictional realm where warriors and Gods go after their death.

Heimdall welcomes Foster at the gates of Valhalla and thanks her for protecting his son Astrid/Axl who also has the all-seeing gift that his father did. The Bifrost summoner and Thor's best friend are seen wearing a white robe and welcoming the physicist who became Thor briefly, but lived and died a heroic life. While there's always a chance of seeing Foster in flashbacks in future Thorquels, safe to say, the movie offers perfect closure to her character.

'Thor: Love and Thunder' releases July 8 in the US.
