Brett Goldstein is rumored to play Hercules in the MCU and have a cameo in 'Thor: Love and Thunder'

'Thor: Love and Thunder' was one of the much-awaited MCU flicks in 2022, but the leaks doing the rounds on social media have fans worried about the impact the Chris Hemsworth-starrer may have. If it was the rumored ending of the film that caused a flutter on Twitter and Reddit, it's the post-credit scene (with dialogue) that had fans flabbergasted.

The end-credit scene reportedly introduces Hercules to the MCU. Born to the Greek god Zeus and human Alcmena, Hercules was created for one purpose — to be the greatest champion and his existence went well beyond 1,000 years. Going by comic history, Hercules had some epic scrimmages with Thor before fighting alongside the Avengers. In addition, there have been storylines where he was a member of the Defenders and also helped in the formation of the West Coast-based heroes. News of Hercules' appearance did the rounds in 2020, but going by the leaks, it does seem like we will see the character in all his glory.

'Thor: Love and Thunder' credits: Will Hercules appear in the movie?

One of the Redditors posted a potential spoiler saying the supposed mid-credit scene introduces Hercules in the MCU. "Zeus: They beg you for mercy without ever knowing if you're listening. Now, they look to the sky - they don't ask us for lightning, they don't ask us for rain. They just want to see one of their so-called superheroes. When did we become the joke? No...no, they will fear us again when [inaudible] falls from the sky. Do you understand me, Hercules? Do you understand me my son?

Hercules: [stands from kneeling position]: Yes, Father. [swings golden mace into his hand as he poses]"

The theory does seem believable. Some of the comments affirmed this rumor and claimed it was a possibility. "Did people even read a single issue of Civil War which basically Kev based his whole MCU runs on and is still kind of an ongoing film plot arch... and is until Secret Invasion...even beyond that possibly... Hercules was pretty substantial in that run, nearly as much as Cap and definitely more than Wolverine," one of the comments read. 'Ted Lasso' star Brett Goldstein was rumored to play the character.

"This is the second time in a year where one of the lead actors from Ted Lasso ended up in the post-credits scene of an MCU movie," another comment on Reddit read. "It’s going to be interesting seeing how the casting impacts the characterization. In the comics, Herc is usually closer to the buffoonish tone they’ve given to Thor in the MCU, so I guess it makes sense if they make Herc the gruff straight man in the movies," a fan opined.

'Thor: Love and Thunder' releases July 8 in the US.
