‘This Is Us’ Season 5 Episode 8 ‘In The Room’: What happens to Kevin's relationships with Madison and Randall?
It's not easy to navigate through relationships but ‘This Is Us’ does it in the best way possible. Ever since Season 5 began, Kevin Pearson (Justin Hartley) and Madison Simons (Caitlin Thompson) have come into the focus and the last few episodes seem to hint at their twin babies.
In the last episode, Madison told Kevin she was having contractions and it ended with Randall Pearson (Sterling K Brown) and Beth Pearson (Susan Kelechi Watson) calling her to ask if she was doing okay. The question remains: Will Madison still be a family member in the forthcoming season or will she die after giving birth to the babies?

Titled ‘In the Room’, the summary reads: “The Pearsons navigate huge family milestones together but from a distance.” Now, we know that Kevin loses his ID card and is unable to hop on the plane (perhaps). If he is not allowed to fly to Madison, maybe he will experience the birth of his babies on a video call.
Now that Randall and Beth have called Madison, they might be on the FaceTime call too. One Reddit fan said: “It will be a huge letdown if the writers kill off Madison or Kevin and Madison don't end up together. I think Kevin's arc is to learn how to be there and take care of people. In the pool episode, Jack told Kevin that they need people to take care of. I also think that Kevin will help someone in the car crash and let go of Jack, and learns to be there. Maybe he will start making movies and he will be the one to tell where and when to shoot the film.”

‘This Is Us’ Season 5 Episode 8 Promo
“I should be with them. I'm supposed to be with them,” Rebecca Pearson (Mandy Moore) says in a new promo for the episode. Kate Pearson (Chrissy Metz) can also be seen turning back while wearing a mask. Meanwhile, Kevin is still hung up on a phone call. In the very next scene, Randall says, “I know this isn't how you imagine the birth. We can see you through it, every step of the way.”
The promo seemingly confirms that the family will see the birth on a video call. Now, many fans are wondering what will happen to Madison after giving birth. Will she die (as earlier predicted)? Or will Kevin break up with her just to be co-parents? “This may be an unpopular opinion but I just plain and simply do not like Madison. I hope Kevin breaks up with her after the babies are born and reconnects with Cassidy. (or someone who knows how to behave like an adult),” one fan blatantly said.
The promo, however, confirms that Kevin will see major changes in his relationships with both, Madison and Randall.
Will Kevin mend fences with Madison and Randall?
With Randall getting his closure, will Kevin and Randall reconcile soon? “I think it is a foreshadowing of what is to come with his two key relationships that are out of balance: Madison and Randall,” another Reddit fan said.
“In a way, it is a life is too short (and remember your father) moment, and it brings him back to earth. With Randall, it will be a cautionary tale for him. He could have died and left that rift with his brother unmended. The fact that Randall has had his catharsis and is ready to move forward to mend that relationship makes it all too easy to figure the reconciliation there. In both, it will be a recognition of a second chance to start over the right way. One that makes two people realize they're not on the right path and it's better to move on from, and the other that brings two together to mend fences.”
Are Kevin and Madison heading towards splitsville?
Talking about Kevin and Madison, the fan also said, “I personally believe that will lead to the both of them realizing they don't have enough of a bond to continue as a family, but as co-parents.
“With his relationship with Madison, he's been trying to be the perfect father to be and live up to his parents' dynamic, without recognizing he doesn't have that with Madison. She's been clearly miserable and he's going on like everything is so great and wonderful and playing the part without recognizing they don't really have any long-lasting dynamic. It makes him realize he doesn't actually want to follow the path of his father anymore, bc that ended in early and untimely death, and it causes him to recognize the reality of his relationship with Madison.”
The comment read, “With the lack of chemistry (which I think is purposeful) between Madison and Kevin, I see that split coming sooner rather than later.”
