'This is Us' Season 5 Episode 15: Will Kevin's second thoughts reunite him with Sophie? Fans say 'not now'

'They better be playing with us. Kevin and Sophie have closed their book,' said a fan

Kevin Pearson (Justin Hartley) seems to be looking for answers from the very person he probably shouldn't right before tying the knot, an ex. But after talking to ex-girlfriend Zoe Baker (Melanie Liburd) in the last episode, we saw him visibly disturbed. The chat with Zoe seems to make Kevin wonder, whether he has simply been pushed along into getting married, due to his go-with-the-flow nature. 

You'd think he had already been confused enough, but it looks like Kevin has decided to add another ex's perspective to the mix. The trailer of the latest 'This Is Us' episode, the one before the wedding finale (if there is a wedding at this rate) shows Kevin reaching out to childhood sweetheart Sophie (Alexandra Breckenridge) seemingly behind Madison Simons' (Caitlin Thompson) back. Fans are not happy in the least, even if they did root for this tale of young love to have its happy ending at one point.

One fan on YouTube said, "Are y’all seriously doing the Sophie plot AGAIN?! Yes I wanted them together but not now after everything he’s been through with Madison." Another fan concurred, "They better be playing with us. Kevin and Sophie have closed their book. He will have lost all his development if he goes back to her. They clearly didn't work together as much as they tried."

Some, however, weren't worried and even felt that Sophie would actually help Kevin to see sense. One fan said, "Its a red herring promo. Sophie will be the one that convinces his Madison is the right person for him." Others were surprised that the question of whether Madison is the right person hasn't come up earlier since the two don't exactly seem to have the most passionate relationship. A viewer said, "This was a relationship of convenience. Have they even touched each other since their night together. They act like friends, not a madly in love couple getting married".

Even if Kevin does give in to his doubts about Madison, will a reunion ever be on the cards for Kevin and Sophie? Or is it a goodbye on the cards? To find out you can catch the latest episode of 'This Is Us' on Tuesdays at 9/8c on NBC.
