Third GOP debate: Internet ridicules Ron DeSantis as he claims 'we're gonna shoot dead' those sneaking fentanyl across border
MIAMI, FLORIDA: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis made a bold promise at the Republican presidential debate in Miami, vowing to send special forces into Mexico to confront the cartels responsible for allegedly trafficking fentanyl into the US.
He vowed that "we're going to shoot them dead” while addressing fentanyl smuggling during the third GOP debate.
Additionally, DeSantis pledged to build a border wall and proposed funding it by taxing the money earned by Mexican citizens in the US that is sent back to Mexico.
In a cheeky nod to former President Donald Trump, he concluded by stating, "I'm even going to build the border wall and have Mexico pay for it."
However, DeSantis’ remarks were brutally trolled by the internet.

Ron DeSantis vows to take on fentanyl cartels
During the third GOP debate in Miami, the border issue, fentanyl cartels, abortion, and TikTok ban were some of the topics of debate among the five candidates.
Ron DeSantis shared his take on fentanyl and narrated an incident of him meeting a man whose son was killed after taking a pharmaceutical laced with fentanyl, a story quite similar to one that Vivek Ramaswamy shared during the second GOP debate. Following this, Ron DeSantis was incessantly trolled online.
DeSantis added, “We’re declaring a national emergency on Day 1, I’m sending US military to the border and I’m gonna stop the invasion, I’m gonna deport people who came illegally and I’m even going to build the border wall and have Mexico pay for it like Donald Trump promised.”
He claimed, “We're going to designate the cartels to be foreign terrorist organizations or something similar to that,” adding, “We’re gonna authorize the use of deadly force [against cartels] and have maritime operations interdict precursor chemicals going to Mexico.”
“And I tell you this, if someone in the drug cartel is sneaking fentanyl across the border when I’m president, that’s gonna be the last thing they do. We’re gonna shoot them stone cold dead,” he concluded.
Internet blast Ron DeSantis’ remarks on fentanyl cartels
After Ron DeSantis vowed to “shoot dead” the fentanyl cartels crossing borders, the internet blasted the Florida governor.
One person trolled him, writing, “I’m sorry but how can anyone take him seriously when he has the voice of a little boy.”

Another slammed him, saying, “The "stone cold dead" phrase sounds ridiculous. He's resorted back to it on a number of occasions. The man is goofy,” and a third said, “Tough words from a guy in makeup and lifts.”

Another person simply wrote, “Oh, please. Because he wears cowboy boots with lifts to make him look taller, he thinks he’s Clint Eastwood. What a poser.”
“He got a fentanyl detector we don’t know about? Or is everyone gonna be asked ”Are you carrying fentanyl in that cocaine?” trolled another X user.

One more mocked DeSantis using Vivek Ramaswamy’s “three inch heels” jab, writing, “Ron's going to throw one of his high heals at them.”
“It's funny how this guy acts like he can just go above the law and other boundaries. Even if he could, he wouldn't. This guy is just a mean spirited bigot and that's all he's got to run on,” claimed another person.
