CLERMONT COUNTY, OHIO: An Ohio woman gunned down her husband, son, and father, critically wounded her daughter, and then turned the gun on herself as police came to serve the family with eviction notices for their foreclosed home, according to authorities. Theresa Cain, 46, fatally shot her husband, Steven Cain, 50; their son, Ethan Cain, 13; and her father, William Felton, 74, on Monday, February 7 at their home in Ohio Township, the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office stated.

Samantha Cain, the mother's 20-year-old daughter, was also shot in the horrific murder suicide and is still in serious condition. Several gunshots could be heard coming from inside when officials arrived at the house to deliver the family an eviction notification. Authorities found four victims who had been shot dead along with a fifth victim, later recognized as Samantha Cain, who was still alive.

Was Theresa Cain hiding something from family?

Theresa Cain appeared to have concealed her financial issues from her family members, according to Sheriff Steve Leahy, who stated on Thursday that the eviction was the result of a protracted history of financial difficulties.

'Victims probably knew what was going on'

Detectives discovered a .38-caliber revolver that they think the mother used to murder her husband when he was discovered dead on a downstairs sofa. Cain and the rest of the family were discovered upstairs. According to the investigators, the victims were awake when they were murdered and probably knew what was going on. They also think they were killed just before the cops showed up at the house. "You would think there would be resources for someone like them, but I think she kept this a very close secret. Hopefully, Samantha recovers and can help fill in some blanks," Leahy stated.

'Samantha Cain is currently in a coma'

Samantha Cain is currently in a coma, but doctors believe she has a high chance of surviving, according to information provided by a relative on Thursday.
