'The Weakest Link': Kyle wins final round and takes home $73,000 despite mispronouncing Greta Thunberg's name
Eight hopeful contestants participated in NBC's popular trivia-based game show 'The Weakest Link' with hopes of winning the potential prize of $150,000. The show is hosted by Jane Lynch With each passing round, the amount of money that can be won increases while the number of contestants decreases. Each contestant is asked a trivia question which they must answer in order to win money.
At the end of each round, the amount banked by the participants is set aside in a kitty, which the winner gets to take home. At the end of each round, there's also an elimination process, where the contestants eliminate the weakest link — the player who is hampering their chances of banking more money through their wrong responses.
The current group of contestants played the game a little differently. Michelle, who happened to be one of the strongest players, was eliminated early on in the game, because the other contestants viewed her as competition. Instead of trying to bank the maximum amount, the contestants seemed more concerned about getting rid of the competition.
So, by the time they reached the final round, we were left with Rosalia and Kyle. The two players were competing for $73,000, which the players amassed since the first round.
For the final round, since Rosalia was the strongest link in the previous round, she was given an option of picking who would go first to answer the final five questions which would determine the winner. After some thinking, Rosalia decided that Kyle should go first. Both of them manage to get the first three questions right.
Kyle goofed up the third question slightly when he was asked who the Times Person of the Year was in 2019, and he replied "Greta Thurenberg" instead of Greta Thunberg. Luckily for him, Jane considered his response and decided to mark it as correct. Rosalia had no such luck and passed the fourth question because she had no idea what the answer was. Kyle successfully answered the fifth question too, making him the winner of the episode and the money.
Fans were happy to see Kyle win. A fan tweeted, "@NBCWeakestLink Congrats to Kyle for not only winning $73K, but for being the first contestant in the Jane Lynch era to answer all five questions right in the final round. #WeakestLink." Another fan wrote, "Kyle. You have proven yourself superior to your fellow men. You may take your papers and leave. This completes tonight's #Inquizition. #WeakestLink." "$73,000, wow! Nice job Kyle! Congrats! #WeakestLink," commented a fan.
