There's very little you can be sure of when you're watching 'The Walking Dead' or its various spinoff series, but there's one thing you can always depend on - sooner or later, the body count is going to rise. Granted, by the end of the first episode, the body count is already alarmingly high thanks to the CRM wiping out the Campus Colony. However, the show's main characters have thus far all remained intact and the only question is, who will be the first to fall?

The four young survivors, Iris Bennett (Aliyah Royale), Hope Bennett (Alexa Mansour), Silas Plaskett (Hal Cumpston) and Elton Ortiz (Nicolas Cantu) are out in a world that they've been preparing for all their lives, but have never had to deal with this so close up. It's one thing to learn about living with walkers - or empties, as they're now called and it's another thing to attempt to survive them firsthand. The four teenagers are about to undergo their very first trial by fire. It's appropriate that they're doing so by making a run through an area on the map known only as the "Blaze of Glory".

The preview for the episode shows the teenagers quickly overwhelmed by a mass of zombies, both at night and during the day. We see Iris attempt to take charge and Hope note that at least one encounter saw the group barely make it out alive. Iris is used to command in the relative safety of the Campus Colony, but she might not be able to make the same decisions out in a tougher world. Her leadership skills are about to be questioned as the team rushes through the Blaze of Glory and not all of them may make it through the other side. Death is inevitable and as the teens face greater dangers than they've ever seen before, it's worth wondering - are we going to have to say goodbye to one of the teens already?

The official synopsis for the episode, entitled 'The Blaze of Gory', reads, "The group adjusts to the reality of life beyond their community's walls; Iris attempts to take charge, in spite of Hope's reservations; Felix and Huck trail the teenagers while Felix is forced to confront unwanted memories."
