For 'The Walking Dead' faithful, it's the start of what will be a drama-filled remainder of the show. With eight episodes remaining before the iconic AMC series calls curtains down, the show will see copious doses of emotions from fans as it hints at one massive ending. While there are spinoffs in the works, the original show will end this year.

Relationships have been a key part of the show, and ahead of the show's premiere on October 2, all eyes are on Norman Reedus and Lauren Ridloff's Daryl and Connie, who are touted to get together. The good news is there is a chance of 'Donnie' happening, and showrunner Angela Kang, while previewing the series in an interview with TV Line, also shed light on what the future for the two characters looks like. "The thing we felt we absolutely had to do was to make sure that we have some level of closure for each character’s story,” the EP said. “Whatever form that takes, we wanted to have some sense of where they land emotionally… so if you saw nothing else after this, you’d still have a sense that things are done."

Will Daryl and Connie end up together?

Kang hinted at how there was a possibility of the characters getting together. “There’s definitely a vibe there,” Kang acknowledges. Where it takes Daryl and Connie, “people will just have to watch and see," she added. Season 10 showed the incredible chemistry between the two characters with fans expecting 'Donnie' to happen soon, however, they had to be content with the duo hugging.

The official synopsis of Season 11's last few episodes read, "In the upcoming final episodes of The Walking Dead, threats lurk around every corner, dead and alive, as each group continues to get caught in uncontrollable situations. The looming pressure is cresting towards a day of reckoning for all. Will the sum of their individual journeys cumulate into one, or divide them forever."

‘The Walking Dead’ Season 11 returns to AMC with new episodes from Sunday, October 2, 2022, at 9 pm EST.
