If you are a ‘Walking Dead’ fan, then we have some really good news for you. AMC has announced that it will be coming out with a spin-off series focused on two of the most important characters from the franchise, Maggie and Negan, in 2023. Titled ‘Isle of the Dead’, the upcoming show will be the franchise’s sixth scripted series and the first season will consist of six episodes.

Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan will be reprising their respective roles of Maggie and Negan. The series will be set in Manhattan and revolve around Maggie and Negan as they explore a post-apocalyptic New York City. The city is filled with “with the dead and denizens” who made it their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror.”

As soon as the news surfaced online, people went berserk and shared their feelings on social media. Fans were not that excited about the announcement and said that AMC should “stop” announcing these spin-off series and focus on the main show.

One of the users said, “I really wish they would stop announcing more spin-off shows. Because god damn, stop???? Also, now we know they are safe in the main show? I miss when The Walking Dead was super surprising and interesting. I’ve spent so much time watching it, now just suffering through the end.” Another user said, “Another one! Can you write something original that hasn’t been done 3 times before?”

“Do we really need this? it would’ve been good for some Hope that we don’t see. What’s the point in two shows? One following Daryl and Carol and this? Basically, confirmed the 4 lead characters are not dying in the end? It’s easier to accept one of them dying, they’re not invincible,” said another fan.

“I’m glad I stopped watching the walking dead some things just need to come to an end,” said another one.

On the other hand, some people were really annoyed that the makers spoiled the ending of the ongoing season by saying that Negan and Maggie will survive on the main show. One of the fans wrote, “How disrespectful to fans of the show to announce a spinoff with existing characters before finishing the current one. That completely spoils part of the ending, they could've at least waited until it was over first.”

“Why in the world would AMC announce this before the final series finale?! Guess we know ANOTHER 2 people who aren’t going to bite it by the end. It’s like they don’t realize announcing spin-offs also spoil characters' fates and arcs of their main show,” said another one.

The final season of the show is yet to finish and will air its last episode in April 2022. That’s why fans are really disheartened to hear the news of the new spin-off series and wanted makers to announce it after the show concludes.
