'The Walking Dead' Season 10 Episode 12: Negan might just pay the price for murdering Alpha

Negan kills Alpha in the latest episode of 'The Walking Dead' but this double-crossing game might just come at a price as Beta isn't going to let go easily

Woah, the twelfth episode of 'The Walking Dead' Season 10 was a grimy, grisly and intense one. It would have made most of the comic-book fans happy, as it kept to one crucial storyline rather than the speculation that had been doing the rounds on the internet. In the previous episode, we saw that Hilltop was under siege from The Whispers and the newest cahort, Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). As a cliffhanger, the episode ended with several of the main characters crunched between two main walls — Alpha's (Samantha Morton) murderous gang and the burning of Hilltop.

To cut straight to the chase: Negan slays the episode. No literally, he beheads Alpha, as he did in the comics. His redemption arc has been coming for a while now and he finally came through with his double-agent like role.

He played on Alpha's tiniest bit of humanity, which lies in her twisted love for her daughter Lydia. Well, that can be debated as Alpha shares with Negan that she wants to "kill Lydia, as she loves her and wants to set her free". The two share a rather emotional conversation (as emotional as it can get with Alpha). Negan tricks her into believing that he is taking her to Lydia, but leads her to an entirely different location. Ouch!

Stunned that Lydia is not there, Alpha turns around and asks Negan why she is not there. And then he slits her throat, gives her a kiss and watches her bleed out. He carries her head in his bag and then drops it at Carol's feet.

Fans who read the comics might have seen this coming, but golly, that isn't a sight that you forget so easily. Negan has been on his way to transforming into a reformed man (albeit rather slowly) for the past couple of seasons, And that's great, but this is 'The Walking Dead', and such acts of betrayal come with a heavy price to pay. Remember that Beta has not trusted him from the start, and now has a reason to extract his pound of flesh... or maybe a lot more than that. This double-crossing game might just push Beta over the edge. He is a bigger threat than he was before.

'The Walking Dead' airs on AMC at 9pm.
