'The Voice' Season 24 coach Niall Horan 'struggles' as he picks Julia Roome over Olivia Eden in Battles round
UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA: In 'The Voice' Season 24, coach Niall Horan was faced with a challenging decision as he had to choose between advancing either Julia Roome or Olivia Eden to the Knockout stage.
After careful deliberation, Niall ultimately selected Julia as the winner of the Battles, effectively ending the 'besties' bond between the two contestants.
Ahead of making his final decision, Niall claimed, "Gotta break up the besties here." He then went on to praise how these young singers stunned him with their soulful voice.
He told Julia who is just 13 years old, "I learned how to tie my shoes at 16." He was taken aback by how much control Julia had in her voice even at this young age.
He went on to praise Olivia, 15, saying, "Your tone is so captivating, so weird and cool, like, it's got a bit of everything." Being confused about who to choose, he said with sadness, "I don't wanna break up the duo."
The coach went on to call the Battles decision to be his most difficult decision of all time. He said, "This was the one I was really struggling with."
Niall ultimately went on to declare Julia the winner of the Battles, breaking the bond of the duo.

Julia and Olivia sang their own rendition of 'Kiss Me' by Sixpence None the Richer. The two teens revealed to have a huge crush on Niall during their audition round. After their performance, they hugged each other.
Olivia instantly claimed, "That was really fun." Julia then praised the bond she shared with Olivia on the stage, saying, "Especially like doing this with my best friend on the season, I'm just so happy."
This left the judges drooling over the bond the singers shared. Gwen Stefani said, "They are so cute."

John Legend went on to praise the singers, saying the Battles round is not competition instead it is about building a connection. John then went on to compliment and find critics in each one's performance.
The coach felt Julia's voice was the perfect fit for the particular song. On the other hand, he called Olivia's tone to be "cool."
He noticed some faults in Olivia's singing, saying, "The only thing that was holding me back from enjoying it 100% was just a little more accuracy and control when it came to pitch." He indeed went on to choose Julia.
'The Voice' Season 24 airs on Mondays at 8 pm ET and Tuesdays at 9 pm ET on NBC.
