One of the most popular reality shows on the small screen, ‘The Voice’ is all set for the grand premiere of its 21st season on Monday, September 20. Judges, who also go by the title of coaches, will be taking over the big red chair in order to find the next singing sensation of the country. Blake Shelton will be returning as the judge for the record 21st time whereas, Kelly Clarkson will sit on the chair for the eighth time.

R&B icon John Legend will also be making his return to the show for the sixth time. Unfortunately, Nick Jonas won’t be taking over the responsibilities of a judge for this season. But worry not, as makers have roped in one of the biggest pop stars from the current lot- Ariana Grande. Yes, the ‘Thank U, Next’ hitmaker will be replacing Nick as the fourth judge. While Nick never spilled the beans on his exit, a source close to the singer earlier told Page Six, “He isn’t leaving for good. Nick will remain on rotation with other stars that have appeared on the show. The chances are he will be back soon.” Also, continuing the show’s ritual, Carson Daly will be marking his return to the show as the host for the record 21st time.

 Blake Shelton

While the show has seen some popular judges like Shakira, Usher, Miley Cyrus, Adam Levine, and Alicia Keys, the 45-year-old singer-songwriter has been part of the show since its inception. Blake Shelton has won a record eight times while winning the seasons- 2–4, 7, 11, 13, 18, 20 respectively. Cam Anthony from Season 20 bagged the crown from Team Blake, marking the captain’s eighth win.

Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson first shot to fame after winning the first season of ‘American Idol’ in 2002 and then there was no looking back. Her debut single called ‘A Moment Like This’ topped the US Billboard Hot 100 and also became the country's best-selling single of 2002. The Texas native has delivered a number of other hits on the charts. Her extensive discography also includes work on films and television.

The 42-year-old R&B singer is best known for his single called ‘All of Me’ which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2013. The Ohio native first joined ‘The Voice’ in its 16th season and guess what, his team member Maelyn Jarmon won the show making Legend the second coach after Kelly Clarkson to win in their very first attempt.

Speaking exclusively to MEAWW earlier, he shed light on his career. “I didn't know. I was terrible in school... and I was scared to death. I really didn't know. And I dropped out of college- I went to junior college. I was trying to figure things out.” He added, “I worked at a gas station... My parents were like 'If you didn't go to college, you gotta pay for your rent.” Daly continued, “I just loved music, so I decided to be a DJ. I learned how to spin, I started DJing in clubs, that lead to the radio, that led to MTV and that lead to The Voice - and all of that just started from loving music."
