‘The Voice’ Season 21 meet the judges as Ariana Grande joins panel
Unfortunately, Nick Jonas won’t be taking over the responsibilities of a judge for this season. Ariana will replace Nick as the fourth coach
One of the most popular reality shows on the small screen, ‘The Voice’ is all set for the grand premiere of its 21st season on Monday, September 20. Judges, who also go by the title of coaches, will be taking over the big red chair in order to find the next singing sensation of the country. Blake Shelton will be returning as the judge for the record 21st time whereas, Kelly Clarkson will sit on the chair for the eighth time.
R&B icon John Legend will also be making his return to the show for the sixth time. Unfortunately, Nick Jonas won’t be taking over the responsibilities of a judge for this season. But worry not, as makers have roped in one of the biggest pop stars from the current lot- Ariana Grande. Yes, the ‘Thank U, Next’ hitmaker will be replacing Nick as the fourth judge. While Nick never spilled the beans on his exit, a source close to the singer earlier told Page Six, “He isn’t leaving for good. Nick will remain on rotation with other stars that have appeared on the show. The chances are he will be back soon.” Also, continuing the show’s ritual, Carson Daly will be marking his return to the show as the host for the record 21st time.
When will 'The Voice' Season 21 begin? Here’s the REAL reason Nick Jonas left the NBC show
Blake Shelton is one of the top country musicians in the world. Apart from his chart-topping singles and albums, the crooner is also known for being the judge on ‘The Voice’. While the show has seen some popular judges like Shakira, Usher, Miley Cyrus, Adam Levine, and Alicia Keys, the 45-year-old singer-songwriter has been part of the show since its inception. Blake Shelton has won a record eight times while winning the seasons- 2–4, 7, 11, 13, 18, 20 respectively. Cam Anthony from Season 20 bagged the crown from Team Blake, marking the captain’s eighth win.
Kelly Clarkson first shot to fame after winning the first season of ‘American Idol’ in 2002 and then there was no looking back. Her debut single called ‘A Moment Like This’ topped the US Billboard Hot 100 and also became the country's best-selling single of 2002. The Texas native has delivered a number of other hits on the charts. Her extensive discography also includes work on films and television.
Apart from successfully running her own talk show called ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’, the 39-year-old songstress also made a fortune from judging the contestants on ‘The Voice.’ She first landed on the show in its 14th season and so far, she has won three seasons i.e. Brynn Cartelli (Season 14), Chevel Shepherd (Season 15), and Jake Hoot (Season 17).
John Legend is an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and a Tony award winner which got him the coveted EGOT status. The rare achievement made him the second youngest person to have scored this milestone. The 42-year-old R&B singer is best known for his single called ‘All of Me’ which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2013. The Ohio native first joined ‘The Voice’ in its 16th season and guess what, his team member Maelyn Jarmon won the show making Legend the second coach after Kelly Clarkson to win in their very first attempt.
Ever since the announcement of Ariana Grande coming in as the judge on ‘The Voice’ Season 21 hit the Internet, her loyal fans can’t wait for the grand premiere of the new season. Taking it to Twitter in March 2021, the multiple award-winning songstress had announced the big news saying she was beyond thrilled.
The 28-year-old pop star had tweeted, “surprise !!! i am beyond thrilled, honored, excited to be joining @kellyclarkson @johnlegend @blakeshelton next season-season 21 of @nbcthevoice! @nickjonas we will miss you.” Ariana is currently the hottest pop star out there. She has received several accolades throughout her career, including two Grammy Awards, one Brit Award, two Billboard Music Awards, three American Music Awards, nine MTV Video Music Awards, and 27 Guinness World Records. Now, with her first stint on ‘The Voice’ she will be hungrier to bag the coveted prize with her team member.

Carson Daly will be returning to host the 21st season of ‘The Voice’. The NBC host is associated with the singing reality show since its first season. Daly joined NBC in 2002 after quitting MTV. He began hosting and producing the late-night talk show ‘Last Call with Carson Daly.’ He also occasionally hosted special event programming for NBC, such as the ‘Macy's Fourth of July’ fireworks show. Daly also executively produced ‘New Year's Eve with Carson Daly’ from Times Square beginning in 2003.
Speaking exclusively to MEAWW earlier, he shed light on his career. “I didn't know. I was terrible in school... and I was scared to death. I really didn't know. And I dropped out of college- I went to junior college. I was trying to figure things out.” He added, “I worked at a gas station... My parents were like 'If you didn't go to college, you gotta pay for your rent.” Daly continued, “I just loved music, so I decided to be a DJ. I learned how to spin, I started DJing in clubs, that lead to the radio, that led to MTV and that lead to The Voice - and all of that just started from loving music."
