The finale episode of ‘The Voice’ season 21 was aired on NBC on Tuesday, December 14 and since it was a live broadcast, mishaps are something that go beyond one's control. Ed Sheeran, who was one of the big performers of the evening, faced a technical glitch with his mic as he landed on the finale stage to perform his recently released single ‘Shivers’ from his new album ‘=’ (Equals).

Ed Sheeran soon became one of the hottest topics during the show finale as social media users mocked at the mess the singer got in. The British crooner’s voice was not audible as he kickstarted his much-anticipated performance on the singing reality show. However, the musical genius the singer is, he soon recovered as his vocals got audible to the audience. The ‘Shape of You’ hitmaker also got trolled for rocking his Nike’s Chunky Dunks during the set. Ed Sheeran was spotted on the show when he was roped in as a mega mentor during the knockout rounds. He had then helped all the coaches namely Blake Shelton, Ariana Grande, Kelly Clarkson, and John Legend with pointers for their respective team members.

Ed Sheeran, it appears, created a live backing track before he started to sing with the help of his loop station placed on the stage.  When he finally went to the mic, apparently there was no sound as he then kept adding more percussion to the looping track before the mic issue got sorted. Speaking of the finale, five singers made it to the last round. Singers namely Wendy Moten and Paris Winningham got in the finale from Team Blake, whereas, Girl Named Tom and Hailey Mia represented Team Kelly. John Legend with sole member Jershika Maple landed in the finale as Ariana Grande got out of the race with no members left in her team.

Coming back to Ed Sheeran’s glitch, social media users took to Twitter to speak about the same. “Someone did @edsheeran very dirty with the sound on @NBCTheVoice”, said one viewer as another chimed in, “Ed Sheeran’s Shivers is a catchy song. Btw, the microphone prep person is gon get fired for that lol.” Another user added, “#EdSheeran recovered from a mic issue!!” while, one asked, “chile not ED SHEERAN’s mic not WORKING?!” The next one joked, “Why is ed sheeran throating this mic”, as another posted, “Was it just me or Ed Sheeran mic was off.” Meanwhile, one shared, “It’s so embarrassing that his mic isn’t work LOL. Overrated.” One user concluded, “I was just about to ask if anyone else wasn’t hearing Ed Sheeran but it was just a long ass beginning that’s so funny.”
