'The Voice' Season 19: Gwen Stefani's surprise single fails to impress, irked fans say 'stick to judging'

Several fans took to Twitter to slam Gwen's vocals and lyrics to her new song 'Let Me Reintroduce myself'

There's no denying that Gwen Stefani is one of the most popular pop stars in the world. Of late, the 'Hollaback Girl' has been busy dropping a bunch of new singles leaving her fans delighted. Following the release of her song with beau Blake Shelton, Stefani surprised everyone by releasing a surprise single during the semifinals of 'The Voice'. Gwen swapped her judge's chair for a bit to take to the stage and do a debut performance of her new single 'Let Me Reintroduce Myself'. 

Gwen performed her new song on the stage while her fellow coaches watched her performance excitedly. Blake was seen singing along to Gwen's performance, and all the coaches seemed to be thoroughly enjoying the high-energy packed performance.

Unfortunately, fans didn't feel the same. Most did not enjoy Gwen's performance or the song much. Several fans took to Twitter to slam the singer's vocals and lyrics. Through her song, Gwen was trying to remind her fans that she was still the same old beloved pop star they all adored. It, however, looks like her attempts have fallen flat.

A fan tweeted, "Gwen Stefani lipsyncing her (sh*tty) new single 'live' on #TheVoice is an embarrassment. So glad she's outta here next season." Another fan wrote, "I did not enjoy Gwen’s song #thevoice."

Another fan expressed, "I'm glad Gwen's making music again but this is such a weird song! It's plainly nostalgic but there's no hard hook that captures you like her earlier songs... I mean seriously 'free w/ a coupon?' #TheVoice." Another user said, "Gwen Stefani definitely is not 'the original old me'. I liked her actual original self much better. #thevoice." Another said, "Ummmm I love you Gwen but you just need to stick to your old classics And judging the voice. This isn’t it......... #TheVoice."



 



 



 



 



 

Gwen's performance may have left fans feeling unimpressed but they definitely loved the singer's coaching style and her team members' performance during the semifinals. Team Gwen's Carter Rubin and Ben Allen's performances were highly appreciated by fans.

'The Voice' Season 19 airs every Monday and Tuesday on NBC.
