‘The Voice’ Season 19: John Legend picks Bailey over Lauren, shocked fans say ‘can’t believe she wasn’t stolen’
Coach John Legend brought 18-year-old Bailey Rae and 16-year-old Lauren Frihauf as his next pairing for the Knockouts of ‘The Voice’ Season 19. Both the contestants got extremely important tips from Usher, who has been roped-in as a mega mentor for this season of the singing reality show. Bailey and Lauren also worked on their flaws before they performed in front of the judges.
Bailey opted for ‘Let Me Down Easy’ by Billy Currington, whereas Lauren covered the popular song ‘Cry Baby’ by Janis Joplin. Kelly Clarkson got mesmerised by Bailey’s performance while we saw Blake Shelton giving a standing ovation to Lauren which is a rare moment to witness in ‘The Voice’. After showering both the contestants with their positive points, John Legend had a tough decision to make. After much deliberation, the American crooner went for Bailey for the next round. She will be now off to the Live shows. Lauren’s journey was unfortunately cut down short as none of the judges used the “save” or “steal” option.
Social media users took to Twitter to speak on the same. One user said, “Bailey Rae is so authentically Country, voice so clean with bright highlights. She needs to find her stage presence, movement. Great song selection and vocal delivery. #TheVoice #VoiceKnockouts.” Another tweeted, “Bailey Rae is a voice that is missing on the Country scene today. Win or lose, we're going to hear more from her.” One tweet read, “Oh my goodness. I can’t believe she wasn’t stolen! She was so good!” Another posted, “What just happened? I’ve seen some big mistakes but this takes the cake.” “Goosebumps from Lauren...how could they let her go? Voice was indescribable,” said another fan.

The Knockouts premiered in the last episode where we saw Tamara Jade winning the round over Casme from John Legend’s team while the mother-daughter trio Worth the Wait was picked by Blake Shelton. However, their country singer opponent Ben Allen was saved by Gwen Stefani. Speaking of Gwen’s team, we saw Payge Turner moving to the next round and unfortunately, her opponent Ryan Berg had to head home with no save or steal from other coaches. Mega mentor Usher was also introduced in the segment, where he along with the coaches, gave crucial tips to the contestants.
The new season of ‘The Voice’ is being hosted by Carson Daly. Season 19 episodes will be aired on NBC. Fans can also catch the singing reality show on the official website of NBC and on their official app along with the network's new streaming service Peacock. Also, we will see Nick Jonas returning as a judge on NBC’s ‘The Voice’ in Season 20 replacing Gwen Stefani. The American crooner earlier sat on the big red chair in Season 18.
