John Legend's team was up for battle with Brittney Allen and Zan Fiskum and advisor Ella Mai was helping out.

Zan had asked Mai about how she managed to go from a totally independent artist to where she is now, particularly how she managed to keep the momentum to move forward. For Mai, it was all about being herself, whether it was her shooting from her bedroom with no equipment or management or performing on larger stages. John pointed out that on 'The Voice' it's the opposite because the contestants start out on a huge stage and have to then learn to translate that into a studio space.

However, fans were really excited to see the outcome of this battle as they felt John had a really tough choice ahead of him. "You guys made really expert pairings with these battles," tweeted one fan, adding "but it made choosing so hard! Good luck! @johnlegend"

One fan said, "If I had to choose who will win this upcoming battle, I’d have to choose @zanfiskum. I just love her voice," while another said "Tough choice but Brittney is better"

Singing Indigo Girls' 'Closer to Fine', Brittney and Zan seemed to work in perfect harmony. Despite each getting their moment to shine, they still managed to create a seamless duet. "This is a close battle," tweeted one viewer, adding "I liked both of them I gave the slight edge to Zan," and another said, "@zanfiskum zan i picked u as the winner of the over brittney but u both were great and zan got real potential too make a deep run." After the performance it even Blake Shelton agreed, picking Zan as well.

But not everyone had the same opinion. "I don’t agree with you on Zan !," tweeted one fan, adding "Brittney by far is so much better! John better keep her or you should steal her!"

John said he found Brittney's vocal choices to be impressive, while he loved Zan's tone and control. As he mulled over his decision, one fan said "Wow great Battle / Zan’s tone is so beautiful and Brittney your so clear and to the soul! Good luck to you both," while another tweeted "Brittney vs Zan Wow! That was beautiful too! Both deserve to continue. Well, John whatcha gonna do?"

Ultimately, John picked Zan saying her tone was the biggest reason she won this round."I love both of the girls! I hope Blake will steal the one you dont keep," tweeted one fan, but unfortunately, Blake did not use his steal this time around.
