'The Voice' Season 17 Top 11 Playoffs: Kat Hammock's performance of 'I'll Fly Away' has fans calling it pitchy and flat
Blake Shelton claims that Kat Hammock will be the most streamed artist of the night after her performance on Monday night's episode of 'The Voice' season 17, but after her performance, fans think otherwise.
'The Voice' season 17 returned on Monday night for Fan Week. The Top 11 contestants will get to perform songs chosen by their fans and will also include fans clips. Back again this week, John Legend, Gwen Stefani and Kelly Clarkson have three contestants each in their teams, while Blake has only two left. One amongst them is Kat Hammock who has an angelic voice.
This week, the song fans chose for her is 'I’ll Fly Away' by Gillian Welch & Alison Krauss. Blake wants her performance to have some Mumford and Sons vibe. Kat has a unique voice and tone she's been known for right from the start. But this week's performance wasn't her best and fans agree. Though the song selection fits her personality, it did sound a little flat compared to her other performances in the past weeks. Though she might have what it takes to move on to next week, there's a low chance she will be the most-streamed artist of the night like Blake claimed prior to her performance.
Though her performance wasn't the best and turned out a little flat than expected, Gwen Stefani and Blake got to their feet. "Every week people are falling more and more in love with you, and they're starting to figure it out and understand how special your voice is and how unique you are to music in general," Blake shared. Gwen called Kat unique and original.
Taking to Twitter post the episode, fans claim that her performance was flat and not the best. "TheVoice kat hammock kind of sound a little flat tonight in the performance," wrote a fan.
"Not a fan of Kat Hammock. Sweet voice, but pitchy and frankly boring #TheVoice," wrote a fan. Adding to that another said, "Kat Hammock is a good singer but that was not the best song for her. #TheVoice."
"#TheVoice kat hammock kind of sound a little flat tonight in the performance," wrote a fan. While another shared, "I kinda heard her voice break a few times...this song wasn't her best performance."
"Kat Hammock has impressed me so much but this ain’t doing it for me. Love her tone but not sure she’s connected the lyric to anything personal. Not her best vocal either. Meh #TheVoice #VoiceTop11," shared a fan.
