'The Voice' Season 17: Team Blake is over the moon and feel like celebrities as they discover they're subjects of fan art!

In a chat with MEAWW, Team Blake shared some interesting insight into the latest episode and talk about attaining minor celebrity status by being on the show
UPDATED NOV 20, 2019

This week on 'The Voice' season 17 was all about the contestants dedicating songs to heir beloved ones. We witnessed some phenomenal and emotional performances on stage, and the week has mostly been rather harmonious for most of us so far.

Team Blake talked to MEA WorldWide (MEAWW) and shared some interesting insights about their experience in the latest episode.

Currently, Team Blake is running with three contestants in the team - Ricky Duran, Kat Hammock and Cali Wilson.

Since it was the 'Dedication Week', we asked them how they decided to pick the song and the special person they dedicated it to.

Ricky said he has always loved Ray LaMontagne and has been playing his song 'You're the Best Thing' for years now. "I thought it would be a perfect dedication to my girlfriend considering we up and moved and she left everything in Worcester Mass to move with me to Austin to pursue my dreams. So I thought it would be a perfect song to show her my appreciation for that," he said.

Kat Hammock had an emotional backstory for the song she picked - 'Danny Boy'.

She said, "Well, my grandparents died within a few years of each other so I could never sing this song at their funerals even though I really wanted to, I wasn't able to get through it. So it was just kind of my second chance to do something special for them, especially that they were super special to me."

A smitten Cali Wilson dedicated the Kacey Musgraves song 'Butterflies' her girlfriend.

"My girlfriend and I have actually been to several Kacey Musgraves concerts together. We live in Nashville and so we're from that area. It's so cool to have that experience of singing one of your favorite artists on stage and I think just the song, in general, is just that basic, that it gives you butterflies. This is a great feeling and we've been together for two years and a half years and she still gives me butterflies! So you know, it was a perfect song for us."

We know for sure that Blake is a hilariously funny coach. He probably must be making several dad jokes. The team said though Blake hasn't made many dad jokes, he has made quite a few other jokes. Ricky recalled a hilarious situation from the blind auditions, saying,"I told him I was from Worcester and he is like, 'Oh poor Chester! I think I put that on my steaks.' He did not know Worcester Massachusetts but you know it's spelled differently than it is pronounced."

On being asked to reveal a funny side to Blake, Kat said, "We talk about my height a lot because I'm 4 feet 11 inches and he's 6"6. So he's like how is such a sound coming out of such a short person?"

Fans have been tweeting incessantly about the contestants especially now that they are in the top 13. To this, Ricky said, "There's been a lot of messages and I try to go through as many as I can and for me, the ones that touch me are the ones that are someone going through something and I help them by inspiring them to help them get out of the bad situation. I'm just singing and I'm going on this show but I didn't see that it's coming with the package. This is really amazing for me."

Kat went on to talk about the fan art of the team and she seemed really thrilled about it. She shared, "People are drawing pictures of us and it's just the craziest thing! Never could we have imagined being here."

When Blake saved Cali last week, she was over the moon. She said she wasn't really expecting it since the teams were so stacked - Ricky and Gracie were incredible and it could have gone either way.

"I was super shocked but I was very appreciative and happy. I am grateful to Blake for having faith in me," she said.

'The Voice' airs on Mondays and Tuesdays on NBC at 8 pm.
