'The Voice' season 17 premiere: Adam Levine's absence from the show has fans wishing he was there
'The Voice' season 17 premiered with the audience getting a chance to see a room full of talent but one thing that was different about the show was fan-favorite judge, Adam Levine. Earlier this year, in an Instagram post, Levine revealed that he would be saying goodbye to the show after spending eight years of his time judging the contest. "After the first day of shooting, I sat there, stunned. I said to myself “there's some magic here. Something is definitely happening.” It went on to be a life-shaping experience that will be close to my heart forever," he wrote.
"For me, it was time to move on. Your support has meant EVERYTHING. And Lastly, I’d like to thank my manager Jordan for convincing me to take that meeting. 😊 What an amazing ride. Thank you all so much.," he further added.
While Levine decided to move on from his position as a judge, fans were not thrilled to see the show without him. Many thought that the show wasn't the same and wished that he returned. "@adamlevinetuned into The Voice and my daughter said, "Where's Adam?" Told her you were gone she changed the channel. We love The Voice! But she said its not the same! #SadFaceEmoji" wrote one user.
Some fans decided to not watch the show as they felt that the show had lost its charm without Levine in it. "Since @adamlevine is not no longer on @NBCTheVoice, I finally deleted their app from my iPhone. Goodbye & thanks for the memories 😢! I will miss my Monday & Tuesday night dates. Maybe we need to have another #notwatchingthevoice Party Mondays & Tuesdays! Who’s in???" another fan noted.
Meanwhile, there were others who missed seeing Blake Shelton and Levine's love-hate relationship on the show. "The Voice without Adam Levine is a disaster chariot! But Why?! No more Blake and Adam Love-hate relationship," one user noted. While another added, "Oh! Btw, transforming @NBCTheVoice in The Blake Shelton show sucked and you lost the Emmy And by letting Adam Levine go, you’ll lose your audience too."
Levine had also spoken about his friendship with Shelton in his Instagram post. The singer referred to Shelton as his brother. " BLAKE FUCKIN’ SHELTON. I couldn’t hide my love for you if I tried. Seriously. I tried. Can’t do it. Our friendship is and always will be one for the books. Whatever this whole surreal experience was, I'm just happy I got to experience it with you. You’re my brother for life," he wrote. The season 17 of The Voice will have Gwen Stefani replacing Levine. While there is no doubt that nothing can beat Levine and Shelton's relationship on The Voice, it would be interesting to see the new chemistry Shelton and Stefani bring to the show.
