From her first audition on 'The Voice' when she sang a soulful rendition of 'Fields of Gold' and received a four-chair turn, Maelyn Jarmon was destined to go far this season. And right enough she made it all the way, winning 'The Voice' season 16.

It was not just a major win for her, but for her coach John Legend as well. Jarmon was Legend's first team member and continued to stay on the top with performances like 'Mad Scientist' and 'Stay' that topped the iTunes chart.

Making it to the finale, Jarmon was the only female non-country artist among the top 4. She performed her spin on Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” and came out on top once again with the highest streamed song of the night on iTunes.

In an exclusive interview with MEA WorldWide (MEAWW) Jarmon spoke to us about her journey on 'The Voice' and what she did first after her win.

Jarmon is still letting the idea of her win sink in, she says the realization has not fully hit her as yet but she is grateful and now she is excited to see what her future holds for her.

Recounting her journey on 'The Voice' from her auditions till the grand finale, Jarmon said, "The experience was absolutely incredible. It was something I never knew that I could do. I had no expectations going into it. I kind of approached every performance as if it was my last and John was just incredible. He was very insightful and extremely intuitive and he was an absolute dream to work with and I got to do so many cool things that I had on my bucket list. I was able to cross off doing a duet with John Legend and singing a duet with Sarah McLachlan on one of the most famous songs ever done. Yeah, it was just incredibly amazing."

We asked Jarmon what was the first she did after her win, she said, "Well, we went straight to the press interview and then my whole family actually came to the show. I had lots of friends and family there and they threw a little party for me and they made me a cake and I got to talk to everybody and later we were able to watch the finale on television together and that was so cool. It was amazing and I had my first glass of champagne. I haven't had anything to drink as far as alcohol or caffeine in five months, so I had a little celebration.

During the press conference, Legend invited Jarmon and her family home, talking about it Jarmon said that they are talking over the details now.

Taylor Swift was one among the star-studded lineup 'The Voice' had for their grand finale and Jarmon got to meet Swift. So we asked Jarmon how was her first time meeting the award-winning singer. Her excitement could clearly be heard as she said, "Yes. Oh my gosh! She was so sweet, but it was funny because they said oh, Taylor Swift is asking to meet you and I was like, 'excuse me', and then she came over and she was like, 'Oh my gosh, I'm such a fan and you know, I rooting for you' and we took our pictures together and she went off. It was just crazy. It was such a surreal moment. She's so nice."
