'The Voice' 2023: Manasseh Samone sounds like 'vocal goddess' in first Battle Round against Sorelle

Niall Horan chooses Kate, while Chance The Rapper steals Tiana

As the music starts, the audience is drawn in by the haunting melody of the ballad, led by Kate's soulful voice. It's a stark contrast to the upbeat tempo they were expecting. Tiana joins in, and their voices blend seamlessly, creating a rich, harmonious sound that fills the room. As the beat picks up, Tiana takes the lead, her confidence evident in her stage presence. Kate, on the other hand, seems a bit more reserved, but no less passionate in her delivery. As the song comes to a close, the coaches offer their feedback. Chance is the first to speak, and he's full of praise for the duet. He compliments the unique arrangement, which added a fresh twist to the song, and he notes the star quality of both contestants. He admits that he couldn't choose between them, but if he had to, he'd give the edge to Kate.

Kelly, too, was impressed with the performance, and she comments on how entertaining it was to watch. She also praises Tiana's tone, but ultimately, she sees it as an even playing field. Blake takes a different approach, focusing his feedback on Tiana. He notes that she was always on pitch, a difficult feat for any singer, and he's clearly impressed. Niall rounds out the feedback, and he can barely contain his excitement. He calls the performance amazing and says he's proud of both contestants.

When it's time for Niall to choose his contestant, he ultimately selects Kate, much to her delight. But before Tiana can feel too disappointed, Chance swoops in with a steal, giving her a second chance to compete. It's a testament to her talent, and she's grateful for the opportunity. The battle rounds may be tough, but moments like this make it all worthwhile.

'This arrangement is a bad idea'

Despite the electrifying performance, something didn't sit right with the viewers. One tweeted, "Wrong Niall, but sooo trye" while another said, "Not a fav...needed a better song to me." Fans expressed their concerns over the song choice more than the performers. Another one said, "This arrangement and song choice was a really bad idea See my homepage plz." One tweet really stood out from the rest. They said, "This arrangement and song choice was a really bad idea The original by Cindi Lauper is great. This sounds so bad in comparison. Good singers in the blind auditions but this is kinda painful hear #TheVoice" All in all, fans were really upset with Niall's arrangement of the song, but agreed that the girls killed it anyway.
