NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: On September 23, Vice President Kamala Harris gave her remarks at the 2023 Congressional Black Caucus Phoenix Awards. As Harris addressed the CBC, she spoke about the “renewal of the Assault Weapons Ban.”

It was during this remark, that Harris also called out the “hypocrisy.” The vice president received a round of applause when she said, “That while we tried to ban assault weapons, they tried to ban books.”

This statement soon turned into a quote with a picture of Harris to go with and was shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, as well as Instagram, by ‘The View’ host, Ana Navarro.

On X and Instagram, ‘The View’ co-host Ana Navarro shared a picture of Vice President Kamala Harris along with the text, “While we try to ban assault weapons, they try to ban books.”

As Navarro shared this picture of Harris and her statement on the “hypocrisy,” Navarro simply said, “true.”

One picture and word by Navarro sparked a discussion on the internet after there were nearly 6,000 comments to Navarro’s post on X. Although, amidst it all, ‘The View’ host faced severe backlash for the same.

Internet interrogates Ana Navarro on X

In response to ‘The View’ co-host Ana Navarro agreeing with Vice President Kamala Harris, people on the internet have asked Navarro to “stop with the lying.”

One user wrote, “Name one book banned. You can't because there aren't any. There are instances of books that are inappropriate for certain age groups and that is the discussion. Stop it with the lying already.”

People have asked Navarro to name a book that has been “banned” as one user on X wrote, “Name one book you cannot buy in the store or online that falls within this "ban" about which you are talking,” and another said, “Name one book that you cannot purchase in the United States…I’ll wait.”

“That is false,” responded one user to Navarro, while another simply labeled her tweet, “Nonsense.”

Some have simply asked Navarro for “facts” after her post in agreement with Harris, “True what? Where are your facts?”
