'The View' host Ana Navarro calls former colleague Bob Menendez's bribery charges 'not easy to digest'
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Senator Bob Menendez was indicted with bribery after more than half a million dollars worth of cash and gold bars were retrieved from his home. The charges further accuse him of revealing sensitive information about the US to Egypt by exploiting his power in the Senate.
'The View' host Ana Navarro came in to comment on the indictment as Menendez was a long-time colleague of hers and also belongs to the Latino community. She stated that it is "not easy" for her to witness but wants to see justice whether it sides with Menedez or not.

Ana Navarro looks back on working with Bob Menendez
While addressing the Bob Menendez situation, Ana Navarro first revealed that they had been colleagues for decades while the host was working as a political strategist focusing on the concerns of the Latino community.
"I have known Menendez for almost 30 years," said 'The View' host, adding, "I have worked with him on many, many issues. There's not an important issue to the Latino community, there's not an issue related to freedom around the world, about freedom in Latin America that he has not been on the forefront of."
Navarro acknowledged that Menendez is the senior-most Latino member of Congress and that in all the years she worked with him, there was not a "hint of impropriety."
"This is personally hard for me," stated Navarro, continuing, "When I saw all the evidence, I'm shaken. I'm hoping against hope that there's some sort of logical explanation."
While the talk show host is sad over the indictment, she made it clear in her social media posts that the case should be dealt with fairly.

She took to Instagram to share a video with the caption, "The @senatormenendez situation is not easy for me to digest. I know him well. I’ve worked with him on countless issues and causes. I like him. The person I know is not the person depicted in the indictments."
"Here’s what I won’t do: I won’t call this a witch-hunt; I won’t attack the prosecution; I won’t say it’s the politicization of the DOJ," added Navarro, along with, "I trust our legal system."
She also stated that Menendez is "entitled to a presumption of innocence until proven guilty."
Navarro closed the post by saying, "Corruption in all sides, in all levels and branches of government, must be weeded out…whether friend or foe."
As the host said on 'The View', Menendez has refused to resign from his post denying wrongdoing as the Democratic Party continues to witness a stressful campaign period for the 2024 presidential election.
