'The Undoing' Episode 3 ended on a rather shocking note with Grace Fraser (Nicole Kidman) being forced to face the truth about herself and the night of Elena Alves' death. Grace did hide something huge, not only from the cops but also from herself. It seems as if the trauma has had an everlasting effect on her.

Initially, flashes of what we saw of Elena from the night of the murder were not Grace's imagination but something that she had witnessed. She had a similar flashback in Episode 3 as well after being forced to talk to Elena's husband, Fernando Alves, who claimed that her husband was the one to have killed Elena, while holding on to Jonathan's daughter. This, clearly disturbs her.

When Fernando claims to take a morally high stand for himself and his wife by saying that her husband was a sick man for sleeping with a patient's mother, she retorts asking what kind of a woman was his wife to have slept with her child's oncologist and this kind of response shows us that he is not here to take any shi* for her husband's perceived mistakes. She then asks Fernando if there were other men in Elena's life and also presses to know if his wife was treated for any mental illness. Fernando, of course, retorts that it is none of her business. Grace, instead responds that it is very much her business considering how her husband is the one who is being accused of murdering his wife.

Now that she has hired lawyer Haley Fitzgerald (Noma Dumezweni) to represent her husband and help him, she wants to go all the way. However, at this moment, she sees a flash from the past where she had spotted Fernando outside Elena's studio while her husband and Elena were having sex inside. Could this mean that Grace is a witness and not a killer herself or would this mean that she is scared of Fernando because he might have very well witnessed her? This is unclear. So when the cops showed her CCTV footage from Elena's studio's neighborhood in which she seems to be taking a walk, it is definitely a surprise that is sprung on her to see how she reacts.

She went in hoping to get some clarity on the case and why Elena's husband was not being considered a suspect. Instead, she leaves after being told that the police believe that she is either withholding information or evidence regarding Elena's death. Which of the two is it?

New episodes of 'The Undoing' will air on Sundays at 9 pm ET on HBO.
