LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The highly anticipated fourth and final season of the beloved superhero series 'The Umbrella Academy' has finally premiered, bringing fans one last thrilling ride with an intriguing denouement.
The show, which debuted on February 15, 2019, chronicles the time-travelling adventures of seven adopted siblings, each of whom has a unique set of superpowers.
The Season 4 of the show begins five years after Season 3, with the now-powerless siblings leading separate lifestyles.
Allison Hargreeves (Emmy Raver-Lampman) is pursuing an acting career while raising her daughter Claire (Coco Assad) with a sober Klaus Hargreeves (Robert Sheehan). On the other hand, Five (Aidan Gallagher) works for the CIA and Viktor Hargreeves (Elliot Page) owns a pub in Canada.
Diego Hargreeves (David Castañeda) and Lila (Ritu Arya) are married and attempting to plan their child's birthday celebration and the leader of the pack Luther Hargreeves (Tom Hopper) is a stripper.
As fate has it, the siblings reclaim their powers as mayhem breaks out in the birthday celebration, which sets off a chain of events that heralds the coming of yet another apocalyptic cataclysm. As the story progresses, some startling facts comes to light which finally answers the role these superheroes have in the ending of the world.
What does Five discover in 'The Umbrella Academy' Season 4?
Despite their unsuccessful attempts to separate Ben Hargreeves (Justin H Min) and Jennifer (Victoria Sawal), the pair ultimately transforms into a formidable monster that poses a certain threat to the world.
While the superheroes were attempting to come up with a plan to defeat the monster, Five decided to utilise the time-travel abilities and came across a cafe filled with his other versions who had been fighting against apocalyptic events in their respective timelines.
At that moment, he realized that the siblings's superhuman abilities had disrupted the flawless sequence of events and the only solution to prevent further catastrophic events was to make the superheroes disappear.
Later, Five presents his discoveries to his siblings, who were initially unenthusiastic about the concept.
However, he managed to convey to them that the presence of marigold had an unforeseen consequence and it caused the fragmentation of original timelines, resulting in the existence of several timelines.
Viktor also stressed that Ben was attempting to demonstrate the original timeline to him, and ultimately the siblings concurred that it was the sole option.
Five emphasizes that the integration of the marigold within their bodies with the durango in The Cleanse will result in their complete cessation of existence. Upon discovering this information, the siblings experienced strong emotions.
Diego proposes that Lila gather their families and themselves and seek refuge in another timeline. Allison and Klaus bid a heartfelt farewell to Claire.
Luther protests Lila's departure, emphasizing that the survival of even one marigold increases the likelihood of another apocalypse.
Did Hargreeves siblings sacrifice themselves in 'The Umbrella Academy' Season 4?
Lila transports the families to different timelines, and Five appears, attempting to persuade Lila once more. Lila appears to be set to leave with the family, but in an unexpected turn of events, she exits the subway.
Later, the siblings notice the moster approaching them, and Lila and Five also joins them.
The siblings, realising their fate is near end, form a circle, where Luther recommends reminiscing about the old days, but everyone else rejects him. In the following scene, the marigold inside them begins to glow as they wait for their impending deaths.
The monster gradually engulfs their bodies, making the siblings nervous, and in true sibling manner, they express their desire to meet again while continuing bickering.
A montage of the previous season is shown, emphasizing the idea that there is only one timeline that currently exists. In the last moments of the show, the audience is shown Lila's family and Alisson's daughter, Claire, go about their daily lives in a tranquil park.
