Best pair of all time? Kate Winslet once said Leonardo DiCaprio felt more like her husband than her real one
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio have maintained a warm relationship ever since their time together on 'Titanic'. While promoting 'Revolutionary Road', the actress once made light of the fact that she and DiCaprio almost seemed like a real-life pair. Meanwhile, DiCaprio is said to be dating supermodel Gigi Hadid.
Since breaking up with his girlfriend of around four years Camila Morrone, speculations of Leonardo DiCaprio dating Gigi Hadid have been circulating online. Gigi secretly ended her relationship with her on-again, off-again lover Zayn Malik in October 2021. Prior to allegedly beginning a relationship with Leo, she had not been romantically linked to anybody.
A source revealed, “Leo has been asking mutual friends about Gigi and wants to get to know her.” It was also discovered that although the two have hung out frequently, they are not in an exclusive relationship. Leo "is interested" in Gigi, but she "is having fun with it" and "is not interested in anything serious," as reported by Seventeen.
Years after 'Titanic', Winslet and DiCaprio worked together again on Sam Mendes' 'Revolutionary Road' in 2008, playing April and Frank Wheeler respectively. Although they reunited as a couple for the movie, this was an entirely different affair in comparison to 'Titanic'. In Mendes' movie, the couple was in a marriage that was about to fall apart, which required strong acting chops from both performers.
'We very much took advantage of our friendship'
DiCaprio was confident that their real-life friendship would benefit their performance in the film. The Seattle Times quoted DiCaprio as saying, "We very much took advantage of our friendship and our relationship for this film. I know the fact that she’s such a good friend of mine, we know each other so well, we know that we could let go. There’s no hidden anything. It’s two people just trying to do their best and just pushing each other.”
In order to make 'Revolutionary Road', Winslet believed that she and DiCaprio needed to be almost inseparable in order to do the story justice.
She said, “Very selfishly, I felt it has to be the right thing, because I want to be on the set with him every day. I want to spend as much time with him as possible. It wasn’t about equal roles, even. It was, I want to bleed that experience dry. I really do, because I know what’s there to be had, and anything less than that wouldn’t have seemed as special.”
'He feels more like my husband than my real husband'
DiCaprio and Winslet's on-screen reunion received a lot of attention throughout the movie's promotional tour. As a result, Winslet noticed that she was making more comments about DiCaprio than normal, which she said gave off a feeling they were really husband and wife. Winslet said in an interview with GMTV, "He feels more like my husband than my real husband. I have to say, I’ve been talking about him so much."
