Spoilers for 'The Third Day' Episode 4 titled 'The Mother'

Osea Island is not how you remember it all. It is no longer the friendly island that welcomed Sam (Jude Law) at the beginning of the series. The local inhabitants of the place are no longer chatty and on a whole, the place is shrouded in an ominous air.

Why then do Helen (Naomie Harris) and her two daughters, Ellie (Nico Parker) and Tallulah (Charlotte Gairdner-Mihell) make their way across the treacherous causeway to get to here? To celebrate Ellie's birthday, of course. "They have had a hard year," she tells an innkeeper who tells her rooms aren't available. But she makes it incredibly known to the audience that there is important they stay at Osea. Unbeknownst to her, the island is far from the holiday destination that she had assumed it was. Or, given the ending of that episode, did she think that at all?

Throughout the episode, Helen is urged by the locals to leave the island not in a friendly, concerned way but in their own creepy demeanor. And after the episode, viewers of the show can't exactly understand why Helen didn't leave. "I really enjoy The Third Day on HBO, but if I went to a weird little island and everybody there kept telling me to leave, I would... you know, just leave?" tweeted a fan. Meanwhile, fans of the actress, who is best known for her role as Eve Moneypenny in the James Bond films 'Skyfall', 'Spectre' and 'No Time to Die', are certainly glad that she is cast in 'The Third Day'. "Been a fan of Naomie Harris since 28 Days later, good to see her make an appearance in The Third Day, it was losing steam...." An excited fan wrote, "Gonna FINALLY watch the third day and obsess over jude law and naomie harris byee."

When the show first came out, it gave a lot of the viewers 'The Wicker Man' and 'Midsommar' vibes. And now, fans are hoping it doesn't turn into either of those. Other grievances that fans have about the show are more about cinematography. "The Third Day on HBO would be a really fun little horror mystery noir if they didn't make it look like it was made in 2006. every light is over exposed, most of the shots are intentionally out of focus. maybe that’s how you make England look sunny, idk. but i'll keep watching."

'The Third Day' airs 9 to 10 pm EST on HBO. The episodes will be available to stream on HBO Max following the airing.
