Spoilers for ‘The Stand’ Episode 6 ‘The Vigil’

Episode 5 of the CBS All Access limited series ‘The Stand’, titled ‘Fear and Loathing in New Vegas’, saw the story’s antagonist Randall Flagg (Alexander Skarsgård) confront Dayna (Natalie Martinez). He knows that Dayna is in Vegas to spy on him for Mother Abagail (Whoopi Goldberg). He tells her that he’s discovered the second spy -- Tom Cullen (Brad William Henke) -- though he seems not to know the identity. Dayna tries to kill him but fails. Ultimately, she stabs a pair of scissors into her own throat instead.

Back in Boulder, Nadine (Amber Heard) and Harold (Owen Teague) are busy finishing their mission -- killing Mother Abagail (Whoopi Goldberg) and the council. Episode 4 saw Nadine kill Teddy (Eion Bailey). And Harold continues to feel guilty about it. Despite the fact that his death was ruled a suicide by Stu (James Marsden) and Larry, Frannie (Odessa Young) seems to be the only one suspicious, asking Larry to investigate what’s going on.

Meanwhile, Mother Abagail leaves. The final scene sees a note on her door: “Please do not come looking for me. I will be back if it is his will. I love you all.”

What will happen in episode 6?

Episode 6 of ‘The Stand’, titled ‘The Vigil’, directed by Chris Fisher, written by Jill Killington and Knate Lee, will see more of Flagg and his plans for sure. But more importantly, we will see Flagg and Abagail meet.

Photos released by CBS show that Mother Abagail is in a forest after she leaves the Boulder Free-Zone. As per the book of the same name written by Stephen King, Abagail becomes frustrated that God is no longer speaking to her. She then disappears into the wilderness to fast, pray, and repair her relationship with God so that she can begin receiving his instructions clearly again.

Deviating slightly from the book here, it would seem that this is where the two will come face to face. Although, it is possible that Flagg was just using his powers to communicate with her and that he was not physically present in the forest.

The photos also show that we will see more of Tom, Julie Lawry (Kat McNamara), and Lloyd Henreid (Nat Wolff). Last we saw Julie and Lloyd, they were in Vegas, somewhat in their element, enjoying themselves under Flagg’s power. At the same time, if you remember, the last we saw of Tom was when Dayna, sensing that he was in trouble, sent him a note that said “Run”. Will Tom evade detection still? Only time will tell.

When will episode 6 air?

‘The Stand’ premiered on December 17, 2020, with the first episode ‘The End’. Subsequent episodes in the nine-episode limited-event series will follow every Thursday on CBS All Access. The episodes drop on the streaming site on the day of their scheduled release.

The drop time is at midnight PT / 1 am MT / 2 am CT / 3 am ET. However, there's no set time to tune in. You can watch it whenever you want after its premiere on the streaming service. ‘The Stand’ Episode 6 ‘The Vigil’, will release on January 21, 2021, only on CBS All Access.
