Did 'The Simpsons' predict DC violence in 1996 episode? Viral clip shows several storm Capitol with guns, bombs
When Donald Trump supporters barged into the US Capitol Hill Building on January 6, 2021, people watched from their homes in absolute horror. No one could have imagined the attack on democracy that took place on that fateful day. But would you be surprised if we said that 'The Simpsons' had successfully predicted this occurrence?
Every few months, news breaks out that 'The Simpsons' had correctly predicted an event decades before it happened and it blows our minds out. The hit Fox sitcom that has a penchant for making predictions has done it once again as it predicted the US Capitol riots years before it happened on January 6, 2021, when Trump's supporters stormed into the US Capitol Hill Building and wreaked havoc.
In the 1996 episode titled 'The Day The Violence Died', several characters were storming the Capitol with bombs and guns after a constitutional amendment tries to ban flag burning.
"Simpsons predicted it many years ago," one tweeted along with a clip from the 1996 episode titled 'The Day the Violence Died'. In the clip, a freshly ratified amendment to the Constitution making it "legal for policemen to beat … those liberal freaks" is held atop the Capitol Hill steps. "Doors open, boys," the amendment calls as an armed mob runs up the steps.

“The Simpsons did it again. Trump, Coup, Capitol, USA #Trump #Capitol #CapitolAttack #WashingtonDC #EEUU #Biden #USA," a tweet said featuring a screenshot bearing the date “JANUARY 20th, 2021” and showing an armed and armored Homer sitting on top of a residential roof watching the world burn all around him. In the episode, which aired on November 1, 2020, Homer falls asleep and dreams of voting, missing his actual opportunity to vote. In the Halloween special episode, titled 'Treehouse of Horror XXXI', that aired days ahead of the November election, the show had predicted some of the scenes at the building and talked about a civil war becoming reality in 2021. In the end, four flags are seen reading: 'Pestilence', 'Famine', 'War', and 'Treehouse of Horror XXXI'. Many people on social media shared tweets that drew similarities with the episode. "The simpsons, ladies and gentlemen.. #WashingtonDC," one tweeted with a screenshot of a man destroying property. "Oh shit there we go again with the simpsons #LosSimpsons #Trump," another shared with real-life pictures alongside screenshots from the episode. "Idk how The Simpsons keep predicting the future but uh...should we be worried??? #CapitolRiots," another added.

'The Simpsons' has previously impressed fans by correctly predicting the coronavirus, Asia's murder hornets and several other currents happenings. In a clip from a 1993 episode 'Marge in Chains', amidst an epidemic of the Osaka flu, Dr Julius Hibbert tells an angry crowd demanding a cure that “the only cure is bed rest - anything I’d give you would only be a placebo."
