'The Red Shadows' Episode 3: Clara regrets reuniting with the Garniers, but is it too late?
In the previous episode of the French murder-mystery series 'The Red Shadows', we saw the Garniers welcome Clara Ivaldi (Manon Azem) into their home, still carrying a zillion doubts about her sudden appearance years after being separated from the family.
Episode 3 picks off where the last episode ended. It shows Aurore Garnier (Nadia Farès) seeking her father's help to reopen the investigation surrounding her mother's death on learning about her infidelity through a DNA test, which established that Clara wasn't Jacques Garnier's (Antoine Duléry) biological daughter.
Aurore's grandparents nevertheless accept Clara as their granddaughter and also offer a part of their Sainte-Victoire Estate sale, which is worth millions. However, Frédéric (Raphaël Lenglet) isn't too convinced with the decision as he still isn't able to accept Clara as his half-sister.
Although the estate sale promises Clara a huge sum that she could use to make ends meet for the rest of her life, the financial matters of her newfound family are least of her concerns.
She is rather petrified by the daunting memory of her abduction, which has instilled a strange fear in her despite helping her achieve more clarity on her true identity.
Meanwhile, Aurore is willing to risk her career to find Clara's father Pierre Ivaldi's true identity, which she feels is the key to everything. However, when she and Antoine (Mhamed Arezki) go to the fisherman's house by the beach where Clara was raised, they realize that the space has been wiped clean with acid, erasing all possible traces. Yet, Aurore manages to acquire fingerprints from the abandoned house.
Clara, who until now was content with her decision to come back to the Garniers, begins to regret her choice upon realizing that her boyfriend Mass is after her money and has also befriended the man who she suspects was one of her kidnappers.
When realization strikes Clara, she refuses to let go of all the fortune, hoping to find an escape from the situation she has gotten herself trapped into.
