Spoilers for 'The Outpost' Season 3 Episode 5 titled 'Under Yavalla's Control'
The CW's fantasy adventure drama television series 'The Outpost' could benefit from not using old plot points and something new. A case in point is the latest episode of season 3 titled 'Under Yavalla's Control', where literally everything that happens has already happened over two seasons. Yavalla (Jaye Griffiths) has taken over the Gallwood Outpost with her newly-acquired kinj. Just as we had mentioned in our review of the episode: introducing a kinj spread through contact in Season 3 is vague and repetitive as the show's Seasons 1 and 2 revolved around Plaguelings – creatures who could spread the "plagueling infection" by coming in close contact with another person.
With this new kinj, 'The Outpost' has put its characters in similar situations that are hardly innovative. It has its fan-favorite Janzo (Anand Desai-Barochia) put to work to look into a cure for the infection. The presence of Wren (Izuka Hoyle) as a love interest. In fact, so much of the show is driven forward because only Janzo arrives at correct conclusions. Elsewhere, Talon (Jessica Green) and Garret (Jake Stormoen) again working closely to raise men against Yavalla. All of these situations are reminiscent of previous seasons.
And it is not just us, many viewers are also seeing through this. "The recycled plotlines and gimmicks are getting old," a fan tweeted.
I hope not. That means Janzo saves the day. Again. The recycled plot lines and gimmicks are getting old. #TheOutpost #TheOutpostSeries

People in the Gallwood Outpost get infected and sick so often that every now and then, someone is caged up to recuperate. In the previous season, Garret was locked in to ease off the effects of the drug that the Prime Order was feeding him. In the same season, Janzo's mother, The Mistress (Robyn Malcolm) was also locked in to ease off her conversion to a Plagueling. Fans all wonder the same: "Has anyone on #TheOutpost ever made it a whole season without being locked up?"

If you have been a consistent viewer, you might find that these additions to the plot are boring and redundant. And despite being a consistent viewer you are alright with watching rehashed content, perhaps you should make better television choices.
'The Outpost' airs Thursdays, 9:00-10:00 pm ET on The CW.
