'The Outpost' Season 3 Episode 4 Review: Yavalla wants unity of Blackbloods and humans, but it'll come at a price
Spoilers for 'The Outpost' Season 3 Episode 4 titled 'The Key to Paradise'
In the latest episode of 'The Outpost' Season 3, Yavalla (Jaye Griffiths) has threatened to take over the Outpost. As predicted by several fans, her kinj takes over the mind of whoever it is passed on to. It forms a hive as soon enough anyone can pass on that kinj to the other person. This is the key to paradise that she so promised to the people here.
As it turns out, only those with a kinj can keep away from Yavalla's, which leaves Talon (Jessica Green) and Zed (Reece Ritchie). And the remaining others happen to be the only ones with common sense. As Gwynn (Imogen Waterhouse) passes this kinj to another, she enlarges the hive, bringing more people under Yavalla's control. Rightly so, considering how the next episode is titled 'Under Yavalla's Control'. Most of the episode focused on this power grab move. The makers indulged fans of the latest couple of the show Janzo (Anand Desai-Barochia) and Wren (Izuka Hoyle) as they "experiment" unions between Blackbloods and humans for "science reasons".
Back at Aegisford, Tobin (Aaron Fontaine) is faced with a difficult choice. He is left with no money and men since the war with the Prime Order. Where is the army that he was supposed to take back home? When an old flame shows up with the required men and a proposal, Tobin is forced to consider. Eventually, he also gives in but might later come to realise that it was all an attempt in vain. Gwynn and Tobin should have realised that the Blackbloods are above a human army - especially now with Yavalla's kinj.
'The Outpost' Episode 3 was a bit of a drag as it showed Yavalla take over each character's presence. Garett Spears (Jake Stormoen) is back but has everyone at the Gallwood Outpost looking for him. 'The Key to Paradise' reveals Yavalla's true intentions of bringing peace to the two factions. With her kinj, Blackbloods and humans might live in unity, but it is going to come at a heavy price. Hopefully, by next episode or so, they can wind up with the Yavalla obstacle because it fails to generate intrigue.
'The Outpost' airs Thursdays at 9 pm ET on The CW.
