'The Offer' Episode 8: Who shot Colombo? Joe Gallo vows to shut down 'The Godfather'
'The Offer' details the unknown behind-the-scenes story of the Academy Award-winning and critically acclaimed 'The Godfather'. Based on producer Albert S Ruddy's experiences, the show has also chronicled the involvement of the mafia during the production of the landmark gangster film.
'The Offer' has been highlighting the tension between Joe Gallo (Joseph Russo) and Joe Colombo (Giovanni Ribisi) for a while now. In real life, Joe Colombo was indeed shot at a rally for the Italian American Civil Rights League in Columbus Circle. The shooter was Jerome A Johnson, a 25-year-old, who was also killed by Colombo’s bodyguards at the scene. Although it's a common belief that Gallo was behind the shooting of Colombo, Gallo was never convicted.

'The Offer' Episode 6: Was Al Ruddy fired from 'The Godfather' after mafia deal?
Gallo had returned from prison and refused to attend a peace meeting with Colombo. Gallo had also grown close to other criminals from Harlem, a primarily black neighborhood, during his time in prison. In the previous episode, we saw how Gallo threw down a magazine, the cover of which had Colombo in it. Towards the end of the episode, we see Al Ruddy attending a rally led by Joe Colombo, who had personally invited the 'Godfather' producer. However, at the rally, Colombo is shot. The new episode titled 'Crossing the Line', reveals the assassination attempt was arranged by Gallo, at the order of Carlo Gambino (Anthony Skordi), who wasn’t happy with Colombo’s growing public persona.
Albert (Miles Teller) is disturbed by Colombo’s shooting. FBI Agents also show up at Albert’s house to ask him questions about his connections to Colombo. Later he arrives at the hospital to visit Colombo. It is also revealed that even though Colombo survived the assassination attempt, the shooting has left him paralyzed for the rest of his life. In the hospital, Ruddy meets Ceasar (Jake Cannavale) and the latter warns him to be careful and not to cross any lines with Joe Gallo.
In another scene, Joe Gallo, Gambino, and other members of the league have a meeting where Gallo reveals that he will shut down the production of ‘The Godfather’. When Albert arrives back at his hotel, he is attacked by Gallo’s guys. Gallo asks for the money that Colombo was getting but Albert lets him know he wasn’t getting any money. Gallo doesn’t believe this and warns him to give him the money, the next time he sees him.
When Ceasar learns of this situation, he tells him that he needs to do whatever Gallo wants because he is very dangerous and not to be messed with. They discuss what to do next and both understand that just because they give Gallo money, it won’t be the end of what he wants.
