It was good news for 'X-Men' fans who are still waiting for any piece of news on the franchise spin-off, 'The New Mutants'. New images that surfaced earlier from the film sees the Demon Bear in full flight. The images in the latest issue of Cinefex also included a still of Illyana Rasputin (Anya Taylor-Joy) and Danielle Moonstar (Blu Hunt) facing the horrific creature.

According to Comicbook, the Demon Bear, in the Chris Claremont and Bob McLeod-created comics haunts Moonstar, the mutant with the ability to create illusions. From the movie, Moonstar is one of the five characters alongside Wolfsbane (Maisie Williams), Sunspot (Henry Zaga), Cannonball (Charlie Heaton), and Illyana/ Magik. The group is held in a secret facility constantly monitored by Dr Cecilia Reyes (Alice Braga).

The Demon Bear first appeared in 'New Mutants #3' in May 1983 and then followed it up with a full appearance in 'New Mutants #18' (May 1984) where the teens met the creature ina. blinding snowstorm.

The Demon Bear is a mysterious entity whose true origins in the comics are still unknown. It haunted Dani since childhood, appearing to her in visions and threatening to kill her. At one point, it was believed that the Demon Bear might actually be a manifestation of Dani's powers but it was eventually revealed that the monster is an independent entity that just so happens to have a special connection to the young mutant. Based on all the evidence, it seems quite likely that the majority of the horror elements we see in the trailer are projections that Dani is creating subconsciously.

'The New Mutants' starts with the classic 'X-Men' premise: Five promising young mutants are brought to a secret facility where they are promised help in controlling their latent powers. But from that seemingly hopeful beginning, the story goes in a dark, twisted and suspenseful direction that has been sorely missing not just from 'X-Men' movies but comic book adaptations in general.

Unfortunately, the Josh Boone-helmed film has seen some major rescheduling in release dates. It was originally set for an April 13, 2018 release before being moved to February 2019. And again to August 2019 all the way up to April 3. However, with the coronavirus pandemic rocking the world, the film was pulled from Disney's schedule sheer and is now awaiting a new release date.
