PIERCE COUNTY, WASHINGTON: Jadie Rasmussen, 27, of Pierce County mysteriously went missing on January 24 this year. Chilling events that took place after she vanished left her family and friends worried, some of whom took to social media to spread the word about her disappearance.
MEAWW spoke to Jadie's friend, Amber Johnson, who opened up about the circumstances around her disappearance. Amber's boyfriend gave Jadie a ride from their house in Roy, to Tacoma, on January 12, she confirmed. "My boyfriend took her to a homeless camp," Amber said. "I believe she had been living at homeless camps for some reason for around two weeks. They visited the camp for a week and then he took her to another camp nearby where he dropped her off and came back home." Days later, Jadie's friends and family began receiving texts from her Messenger account.

"After a week or so, Jadie's stepmom messaged me asking if I had spoken to her. She told me she received a disturbing video from Jadie's Messenger account, of a man masturbating. She also received some X-rated photos. It was clear her account was being accessed by someone else. Jadie did not put a screen lock on her phone for some reason," Amber said.
To Amber's surprise, Jadie texted her the next morning around 3 am, saying she lost her phone. "Jadie told me she suspects a man who was giving her a ride to a mall stole it and has been sending inappropriate messages to people in her friend list, including her boyfriend. During the short conversation we had she did not mention who exactly this man was," Amber said.
Amber claimed Jadie borrowed a phone as soon as she could and messaged her. "After asking her some questions, the answers to which only she would know, I was convinced it was Jadie," said Amber. "She told me she was now at the camp my boyfriend dropped her at, and that she wasn't sure when she could get in touch again since she did not have a phone."
"Jadie also told me she had texted her mom and let her know she was okay. In the meantime, I started receiving these vulgar messages from her Messenger account which was being accessed by whoever stole it. I knew what these texts were and deleted the entire chat to get rid of them, and unfortunately, I am not able to retrieve them now. These creepy messages continued to come for some more time and then they stopped. Jadie, too, did not message anymore and I assumed she must have had to give the phone back to whoever owned it. No one has heard from her since."

Amber said she "blasted Jadie's Facebook wall" a couple of times, but it was strange that she did not reply because she usually always does. "Her boyfriend went to the camp where my boyfriend dropped her off, but people there said they did not know who she was. My boyfriend went to the other camp looking for Jadie, but they said they had not heard from her in a while," she said.
Both Amber and Jadie's stepmom, Heather, then began posting about her disappearance on social media. Amber said a missing person report was filed with the Pierce County Sheriff's Office late last week, but police have not publicly shared any information about the case. MEAWW could not independently verify the information on the missing person report being filed.
On being asked why the missing person report was filed so late, Amber said that to her knowledge, Jadie does not always stay in touch with her family, and goes days without contacting them at times. The report was filed after they failed to contact her for an unusually long time.
"Jadie and I have been friends since 2017. I can only speculate what may have happened to her but there is no evidence anywhere. I try not to speculate too much though because that is how rumors get started. Anything could be a possibility, but she never told me about any stalker or anyone who may have wanted to hurt her," Amber concluded.
