One of television's most bizarre and weirdly entertaining series 'The Masked Singer' returned to our screens on Wednesday night, with 16 new contestants all dressed in a slew of glamorous, rhinestoned, furry costumes, hoping to make it all the way and be the last masked singer standing.

'The Masked Singer' season 2 premiered on Wednesday night, and the first eight contestants took to the stage and performed dropping hints about their identities and who they might be. Back in the panel the 'celebrity detectives' - Robin Thicke, Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong, and Jenny McCarthy - were joined by host Nick Cannon as they got ready to guess who might be under the mask using the given cryptic clues.

Group A featured a face-off between Butterfly vs Egg and Thingamajig vs Skeleton. Emerging as winners with the highest votes from the audience were Butterfly and Thingamajig, leaving Egg and Skeleton in the danger zone.

Battling it out in the first-ever smackdown of the season the Egg and Skeleton sang their hearts out. In the end, the judging panel decides to send the Skeleton to the next round, leaving the Egg eliminated.  Group B featured Ladybug vs Rotweiller followed by Tree vs Ice Cream. Rotweiller and Tree advanced to the next round, and the Ladybug and Ice Cream had to battle it out in the smackdown.

The judges decided to send Ladybug to the next round, which meant the second celebrity to be unmasked was the Ice Cream. At the end of the two-hour premiere, both the Egg and Ice Cream were unmasked leaving the crowd and judges shocked.

Unmasked, the series revealed that the celebrity under the Egg mask was none other than figure skating champion Johnny Weir. Thicke and McCarthy were spot on with their guesses. While the judges speculated that it would be either PewDiePie, Marshmello, Rob Dyrdek or Dead Mouse, they were shocked for life, when the celebrity under the Ice Cream mask was none other than YouTuber Ninja. None of the judges got the guess right.

While most fans speculated right about Weir being the Egg, most were left shocked as they couldn't guess that it was Ninja under the Ice Cream. "The egg was an easy guess but the ice cream would have not guessed that. And. I have no idea who any of the rest are #TheMaskedSinger," wrote a fan on Twitter.

"I was right about the Egg. Yessssss. #TheMaskedSinger," said a fan. Adding to that another fan wrote, "I KNEW IT! I KNEW JOHNNY WEIR WAS THE EGG FROM #TheMaskedSinger."

"Just finished the season premiere of #TheMaskedSinger and OMG when @Ninja revealed to be the ice cream - I think I woke the whole neighborhood. God damn you’re incredible," said a fan.

While another added, "#TheMaskedSinger I was so surprised at who the ice cream dude was..."
