'The Masked Singer' Spoilers: Are Katharine McPhee and David Foster Banana Split? Here are the clues

All the clues and watching the duo's performances, several fans have concluded that David Foster and Katharine McPhee are under the BananaSplit costume

One of the most delicious-looking costumes on Season 6 of 'The Masked Singer' has to be the Banana Split. The duo costume features one half of the celebrity duo in an all-yellow suit with chocolate ice cream and sprinkles spilling on his sides, with a huge banana-shaped body, heart eyes, and a wide grin. Banana's partner Split is seen wearing a delicious dress that resembles scoops of ice cream with a red cherry on top of her head. With her red lips, deep blue eyes, and a prominent birthmark on her face, Split surely makes an impression.

In the run-up to the semi-finals, Split lent her amazing vocals while Banana showcased his piano skills during their performances. The duo managed to earn a spot in Group B's semi-finals after managing to defeat Caterpillar and Mallard. The Banan Split will be taking on Queen of hearts in Group B's semifinals and the winner will compete against Group A's winner, Bull, to be crowned the winner. The judges seem to be having a hard time guessing the identity of the celebrities hiding under the Banana Split costume, but that's not the case with fans.  After carefully examining all the clues and watching the duo's performances, several fans have concluded that David Foster and Katharine McPhee are under the Banana and Split costume.

Clues for Banana Split

Ahead of the show's premiere, the promo video for Banana Split featured the lovely couple holding two bouquets of roses, and playing the game High Striker against the carnival-themed backdrop. The couple then dances to 'Shake, Shake, Shake' by Photronique. When the couple did finally make their big debut on the show, their first clue was three red dice with two dots. The Split half of the costume revealed that she left school to pursue her Hollywood dreams. But when she got to the city, she had to take up a day job to support herself, and quit the job when she got her "big break". She can be seen receiving a silver medal. but when the big break came and went, she had no choice but to beg to get her old job back. During the "Date Night" episode, Banana said to make the perfect love song, you need: fantasy, pain and reality. Although, Split disagreed, and instead said you need heart. Then we see a close-up shot of a plate with the word Nothing scrawled on it. The couple told Nicole Scherzinger that the three of them would have a "ball" together.

Alright, we'll admit that the clues might seem very random and confusing. But the fans managed to dissect each of the clues and conclude that they were all alluding to the talented couple- David and Katharine.

Are David Foster and Katharine McPhee under the Banana Split costume?

Although the showrunners did their best to throw the fans off the track with their very confusing clues, the fans wasted no time in sniffing out that David and Kat were under the Banana Split costume. David's piano skills and Kat's vocals were dead giveaways, but aside from that the clues too seem to be pointing to them/ The silver medal clue was one of the biggest giveaways. You may remember that Katharine competed on 'American Idol' back in 2006, and ended up as the runner-up. This also ties up with Banana declaring that "reality" is an ingredient for the perfect love song. 

What about the three red dice with two dots you ask, well the couple recently welcomed their first baby earlier this year on February 22! Ever heard Whitney Houston's famous song 'I Have Nothing'? Well, the plate with nothing scrawled on it might be a homage to David co-writing the popular song with Whitney and producing it. If you still need a bit of convincing about this theory, then have a look at these fans' tweets. A fan tweeted, "Banana Split - Katharine McPhee & David Foster! Musical couple, singer & songwriter/piano player, reality shows The plate of Nothing = the song I Have Nothing which Foster co-wrote. Bananas Foster is a dessert made w/ bananas & ice cream Makes sense to me. #TheMaskedSinger." Another fan wrote, "The Banana Split on @MaskedSingerFOX has to be Katharine McPhee and David Foster! Love her voice and it totally sounds like her. @katharinemcphee #TheMaskedSinger." "The fact we keep talking about Banana Split on #TheMaskedSinger as if it’s not Kat McPhee and David Foster is driving me CRAZY!," commented a fan. "I said this instantly and I stand by it…Banana Split is Katherine McPhee and David Foster #TheMaskedSinger," declared a fan.

All clues do point at David and Katharine possibly being the Banana Split. The contestants on the current season have 27 Grammys and a cool 85 Grammy nominations amongst them, of which David does contribute quite a bit to with his whopping sixteen wins and 47 nominations! We can't wait to see who is hiding underneath the Banana and Split mask, but until then we'll be looking for more clues that might confirm our guesses.
